Aidan Hutchinson reveals what set Georgia apart from Michigan in CFP

Aidan Hutchinson will go very high in the NFL Draft.

It may not be as high as most people originally thought, because of a Georgia football player named Travon Walker.

The Dawgs will show up a lot in this year’s Draft.

They will serve as a constant reminder for Aidan Hutchinson – and anyone else who lost to them – about how good they were.

Maybe Walker won’t unseat Aidan Hutchinson as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ number-one overall pick.

Either outcome makes sense.

Aidan Hutchinson was a Heisman Trophy finalist.

He was the straw that stirred Michigan‘s drink on the Wolverines’ College Football Playoff run.

One team found a way to remove the straw completely.

How Georgia removed Aidan Hutchinson from the Orange Bowl equation

Aidan Hutchinson joined Marty Smith and me on our Outsider Podcast this week.

I asked him what separated Georgia from the rest of Michigan’s opponents last season.

I didn’t want to single him out for his team’s season-low or anything.

We just don’t get many opportunities to hear about that historic Georgia football team from the other side of the scoreboard.

So here’s what he said:

“I think Georgia did a really good job of taking me out of the game. You can schematically form a game plan to take a player out of the game. I thought they did that,” Hutchinson told me.

“They succeeded. They got a really good football team and a lot of good players on that team. It was their day that day. They played very well. You can game plan. You can do things, like quick game and screens, and running away from me. There’s a lot of things you can do to take a player out of a game. I think that was their whole mission, too, and they succeeded.”

I had no problem with Hutchinson’s assessment of Georgia’s game plan

I realize many Georgia football fans may read / hear his words and see someone who made excuses about not showing up.

However, in the moment and listening back, I heard a player who gave credit where credit was due.

He credited the scheme (Todd Monken) and acknowledged how many good players Georgia had on its roster.

As I mentioned, we’ll all get a reminder of that during this NFL Draft.

Yes, Hutchinson lost some reps. Jamaree Salyer took this round against his former All-American Bowl rival.

But viral Twitter clips don’t always tell the full story. (Maybe someone will buy the social media network and make some changes to that?)

He also won his fair share, too.

Georgia fans are familiar with Darnell Washington‘s ability to dominate people on the line of scrimmage.

Hutchinson looked like he may have set the tone coming out of the gate.

But it was all for naught.

I think a lot of it boils down to Todd Monken, and Georgia’s offensive staff.

The Dawgs are in good hands with this crew.

Aidan Hutchinson and the Michigan defense experienced it after dominating pretty much everyone in their way last season.

It makes me even more excited to see how that number-one pick unfolds.

And it should give Georgia fans a ton of confidence in how Monken will design their team’s offense next season.
