LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The 2022 season wrapped up last night with Georgia crushing TCU by a score of 65-7. The Bulldogs are back-to-back National Champions, becoming the first team to do that in the College Football Playoff era.

Can UGA do it again? Well, we’re going to go ahead and take a look at what the depth chart might look like.’

*** We aren’t making and projections as far as the transfer portal but we will be leaving out the players we expect to leave early for the NFL draft.

*** We are also going just three-deep at each position.

Quarterback

  1. Carson Beck
  2. Brock Vandagriff / Gunner Stockton

This will be a true quarterback competition. Beck will have a significant leg up because of his experience but the other two guys are talented enough to take him over.

Running back

  1. Kendall Milton
  2. Daijun Edwards
  3. Branson Robinson / Andrew Paul / Roderick Robinson

Tight End

  1. Brock Bowers
  2. Oscar Delp
  3. Ryland Goede / Lawson Luckie / Pearce Spurlin

Keep an eye on Goede here because he was honored at senior day. It wouldn’t be surprising if he decided to explore his options.

X-Receiver (Split End)

  1. AD Mitchell
  2. Rara Thomas / Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
  3. Dillon Bell / Tyler Williams

The Bulldogs now have significant depth at this position. Thomas is a huge addition and Rosemy-Jacksaint really came on at the end of the year. Mitchell is still the most gifted guy in this room but Bell is going to push everybody.

Slot Receiver

  1. Dominick Lovett
  2. Arian Smith / Dominick Blaylock
  3. Anthony Evans

Lovett is another massive addition and he can play outside as well. The same goes for Arian Smith, who has shown how lethal he can be in the slot. We expect Kearis Jackson to give the NFL a shot with an announcement coming in a few days but minds do change.

Z-Receiver (Flanker)

  1. Ladd McConkey
  2. Dominic Lovett / Arian Smith
  3. De’Nylon Morrissette / Yazeed Haynes

McConkey can play in the slot but he’s a bigger body than Lovett. He fits better outside in our view. Lovett and Smith will get a ton of run at this position as well.

Left Tackle

  1. Earnest Greene
  2. Aliou Bah / Monroe Freeling
  3. Bo Hughley

Greene got a lot of work at left tackle last spring and the staff is high on his ability. He missed most of the season with a back injury but as long as he puts it behind him, he’ll have a chance to start here. Amarius Mims is also an option but we’ll look at him on the right side for now. Freeling is a guy to keep an eye on. He’s coming in early and might start immediately.

Left Guard

  1. Xavier Truss / Devin Willock
  2. Dylan Fairchild
  3. Kelton Smith / Joshua Miller

Center

  1. Austin Blaske / Warren Ericson
  2. Jared Wilson
  3. Drew Bobo

We obviously think Sedrick Van Pran is moving on. This could depend on what Ericson does. He was honored at senior day and might choose to move on from the program in one way or another. If he does, Blaske is going to have the leg up but he’ll have to win the job.

Right Guard

  1. Tate Ratledge
  2. Devin Willock
  3. Jared Wilson

Right Tackle

  1. Amarius Mims
  2. Chad Lindberg
  3. Jacob Hood

We believe Warren McClendon to be on his way out and if that’s the case, Mims is the guy here. The only things that could prevent that are injury and him moving to left tackle. Lindberg might decide to look for more playing time and Hood really needs to get healthy.

Defensive End

  1. Mykel Williams
  2. Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins

Georgia is thin at this position. They’re currently looking for fits in the transfer portal. With that said, it has a couple of studs in these two edge guys.

Nose Tackle

  1. Nazir Stackhouse / Zion Logue
  2. Bear Alexander
  3. Shone Washington / Jamaal Jarrett

Stackhouse coming back is huge for the Bulldogs. Georgia has a great combo there with him and He can play multiple positions and the same can be said for Alexander. Jarrett is a behemoth who’ll need to drop a few pounds.

Defensive Tackle

  • Warren Brinson
  • Christen Miller / Bear Alexander
  • Jordan Hall

Georgia is loaded with potential but most of these guys have to get reps. Alexander can bump out to play over the guard. Hall is one to keep an eye on as far as early playing time goes. He’s enrolled and getting a head start.

Outside Linebacker

  1. Chaz Chambliss / Jalon Walker
  2. Marvin Jones Jr.
  3. Damon Wilson / Samuel M’Pemba / Gabe Harris

Georgia has a ton of bodies at this position and we think Walker makes the move from inside to outside. Time will tell. Jones Jr. will likely miss spring with a shoulder injury. Wilson, M’Pemba, and Harris will all compete really hard for the opportunity to play right away.

MAC Linebacker

  1. Smael Mondon
  2. Trezmen Marshall
  3. Xavian Sorey / Raylen Wilson

MONEY Linebacker

  1. Jamon Dumas-Johnson
  2. Rian Davis
  3. C.J. Allen

STAR/nickel

  1. Javon Bullard
  2. Tykee Smith
  3. Marcus Washington

Left Cornerback

  1. Kamari Lassiter
  2. Julian Humphries / Jaheim Singletary
  3. A.J. Harris

Strong Safety

  1. Dan Jackson / David Daniel-Sisavahn
  2. Joenel Aguero / JaCorey Thomas

Chris Smith gives some huge shoes to fill. Jackson has the most experience but DDS has gotten a lot of work late in the year. Aguero is the most gifted guy in this group and could make a Malaki Starks-like move.

Free Safety

  1. Malaki Starks
  2. Dan Jackson
  3. Joenel Aguero

Right Cornerback

  1. Daylen Everette / Nyland Green
  2. Daniel Harris / Chris Peal

Huge position battle upcoming here and A.J. Harris might throw his hat into the ring as well. Everette and Green are the favorites to win it but there’s so much talent in this group. Georgia has good problems here.
