Georgia football players describe 2023 team as 'Just Some Dawgs'

Georgia football players and one legendary alum describe the 2023 team as ‘Just Some Dawgs.’ That’s a good thing.

Dominic Lovett told me that about the Georgia quarterback room.

David Pollack told me that about the Georgia football team as a whole.

I’m not sure if they collaborated on that beforehand or not, but you can’t deny the synergy that these multi-generational Dawgs have.

One on offense, one on defense. They have this thing cornered.

For those unfamiliar with the modern-day vernacular, don’t worry. No judgment here. I’ll break it down for you.

‘Just’ in this sense means ‘only.’ Not ‘merely’ or ‘wish we had more options.’ Nope. Top to bottom, three-star, four-star or five-star, it encompasses the whole deal.

‘Some Dawgs’ here means more than Georgia Bulldogs. Of course, that’s a good thing these days, too. But Dawgs in this regard means ‘sand-in-the-gut,’ ‘hungry to win,’ ‘relentless.’

You can hear more about why that’s a good thing on the latest episode of The Georgia Show (YouTube / Apple / Spotify):

It’s been a week of two ‘Doms’ in Bulldog country

Our Rusty Mansell broke the news that Dominick Blaylock made his transfer portal choice on Tuesday.

For once, I think some Bulldogs out there may root for a Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket. As long as it isn’t against Georgia, of course.

The ‘DGD’ debate is one that doesn’t sway anyone, so I’ll spare you my personal defense of this take.

To many level-headed Georgia football fans, Dominick Blaylock is still a DGD. And that’s A-OK with me.

He battled through injuries, made amazing, clutch catches for the Dawgs as they chased down back-to-back National Championships and is just an all-around solid fella. Good luck to him.

The other ‘Dom’ is Dominic Lovett.

He, too, is a transfer portal dude. But he joined the Georgia football team.

I spoke with him on Monday in an exclusive one-on-one chat and invite you to sign up for a premium membership to check it out (it’s still just $1 to join for a limited time).

My main takeaway: Georgia fans will love him. He loves Georgia. And his teammates do, too.

We had some late-breaking news on the show: Georgia-Florida may reportedly not take place in Jacksonville in 2025-26

David Baurlein of the Florida Times-Union wrote Wednesday that Jacksonville’s city council and mayor will explore options for the Jaguars during a renovation to TIAA Bank Stadium.

Apparently, the powers-that-be in the River City only want the renovations and relocations to affect the 2025 and 2026 football seasons.

During those two years, The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party may just take place on each school’s campuses for the first time since the 1994 and 1995 seasons.

And let me tell ya.

If that does indeed happen, Georgia and Florida may never play in Jacksonville again once they get a taste of recruits and economic boosts in their respective college towns
