NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Good morning from the Music City! DawgsHQ is live with boots on the ground at FirstBank Stadium on the campus of Vanderbilt as the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs get set to square off against the Commodores.

UGA comes into this one with a 6-0 record and having recently played its best football of the season – beating a top-25 Kentucky team last Saturday 51-13. Meanwhile, it’s been over a month since Clark Lea’s team last won a game as Vanderbilt has dropped five straight, entering with a 2-5 record.

“Onto Vandy yesterday and got a start on these guys in terms of watching games and Clark Lea’s team,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said this week. “Have a lot of respect for Clark. He’s been a good friend for a while, but has really become a closer friend since being in our league. He’s a very intellectual guy. He was the head of our meetings for the SEC meetings, and thought he did a tremendous job of leading the discussion about issues and things we come across in our conference. But he does a tremendous job. He’s gotten more energy and had some big wins since arriving there. I know he’s an alumnus, which takes a lot of pride in being from the school, as I know myself. And we’re preparing to go up and play these guys in an early kick in Nashville, and we gotta prepare our guys the right way.”

Georgia has played Vanderbilt 82 times, the fourth-most played game by the Bulldogs. UGA has won 60 of those including the last five. The Dawgs hold the longest win streak twice, taking down the Dores 11 consecutive contests from 1974-1984 and 1995-2005. Vanderbilt has not scored on Georgia since 2019 with the 2020 game cancelled due to COVID and the last two matchups going UGA’s way by a combined score of 117-0. Kickoff time for today is set for 12:00 p.m. ET, 11:00 a.m. locally, on CBS.

  • PUNT VANDY – Vanderbilt goes three-and-out with a false start on 3rd and 2 making it a 3rd and 7. Pass breakup by Daylen Everette on the play. Georgia will take over at its 30 after the fair catch from Mekhi Mews.
  • FIELD GOAL UGA – Another drive stalls, another field goal for Peyton Woodring. This one’s a little bit shorter. Just 30 yards. (UGA 30-14 9:05 4Q)
  • Big third down conversion as Carson Beck completes to Oscar Delp for a gain of 12 on 3rd and 6.
  • Two plays, two first downs. Dominic Lovett gains 10 before Daijun Edwards picks up 21. Georgia in Vanderbilt territory.
  • TOUCHDOWN VANDY – Commodores punch it in on the first play of the fourth quarter. Ken Seals to Richie Hoskins from 3 yards out. (UGA 27-14 14:57 4Q)

Third Quarter

  • Final play of the third quarter goes for a short gain. Will be 3rd and Goal from the UGA 3 when play resumes.
  • Will be 1st and Goal Vanderbilt, backed up five yards after a false start, from the UGA 6.
  • Vanderbilt converts on 4th and 8 with a lengthy catch. Play will go under review and stopped an attempt to go quickly and score.
  • Vanderbilt’s gotten it into UGA territory with a trio of first downs. One came as a result of a 20-yard pickup. Another came by way of penalty. Commodore ball inside the UGA 30.
  • FIELD GOAL UGA – Georgia can’t convert a fourth third down. Peyton Woodring comes on and makes from 44 yards, a new career long for the freshman. (UGA 27-7 6:22 3Q)
  • Georgia’s got another third down conversion plus a pair of first down pickups on second down. One of those was on a throwback play to Dillon Bell where Earnest Greene did a great job as the lead blocker in space. Bulldogs now inside the Vanderbilt 20.

  • Monroe Freeling stays in the game at right tackle in place of Truss.

Second Quarter

  • Vanderbilt will take a knee and send the teams into the locker room.

  • Going to be 3rd and 7 after a pair of rushing plays for Georgia. Timeout Vanderbilt, its second of the half.
  • Monroe Freeling comes in at offensive tackle in place of Truss. Keep in mind, Truss was already a backup playing place of an injured Amarius Mims.
  • Georgia goes for it on a 4th and 2 and comes up short. Xavier Truss down on the play. Play goes under review, and it’s reversed. Georgia to maintain possession.
  • Brock Bowers down on the play. He carried for a gain of 14 but its negated thanks to a penalty. Walking off the field under his own power, but that’s definitely not what you want if you’re Georgia.
  • Carson Beck completes to Ladd McConkey for the first down. UGA at the VU 39.
  • Arian Smith gets open but lets it go through his hands. Georgia picks up a first down on the next play though with a 17 yard run by Kendall Milton.

  • Rara Thomas picks up 15 on the first play of the quarter. Puts UGA into a Goal-to-Go situation.

  • Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint back in the game. He’s on the edge blocking for Brock Bowers on the first down play.
  • MISSED FIELD GOAL VANDY – 47-yard attempt comes up short. Vanderbilt was kicking into the wind, but I would have considered potential four-down territory there. Georgia gets away with its turnover with no damage done. UGA to take over at its own 29.
  • Field goal unit coming on for Vanderbilt after a third down stop.
  • Near interception for Georgia but Lassiter slipped. Then on 2nd and 10, Malaki Starks gets off his block for a tackle for loss. 3rd and 11 for Vanderbilt.

  • First play goes for a first down. Carson Beck completes to Dillon Bell for 11 yards. Vanderbilt player down on the play brings on a TV timeout.
  • Mews lets the kickoff go for a touchback. Replay of the touchdown looks like a coverage/communication bust between Kamari Lassiter and Tykee Smith.
  • TOUCHDOWN VANDY – Ken Seals completes to London Humphreys for the early score. Commodores go 5 plays, 75 yards capped off by the 49-yard scoring strike. PAT is good. (VU 7-0 12:07 1Q)

  • Kickoff goes for a touchback
