Billy Weivoda makes college decision
Class of 2026 linebacker Billy Weivoda has made his college decision. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Georgia native officially announced today that he has given his verbal commitment to the Iowa coaching staff and will play for the Hawkeyes.
“I think Iowa is one of the most underrated programs in college football right now,” Weivoda told HawkeyeReport.com earlier. “I don’t know if a lot of people think of them like that, but they’ve built something special there.”
A versatile, hard-hitting linebacker from Milton, Weivoda chose Iowa over scholarship offers from South Florida, Virginia Tech, Appalachian State, Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, Memphis, Marshall, New Mexico, and Liberty, among others.

“They like how I fly around to the ball and make big plays, including on special teams,” said Weivoda about Iowa. “I’m a playmaker that can change a game and they like how I can move like a defensive back.”
Overall, Weivoda is commitment No. 13 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2026. He joins offensive linemen Carson Nielsen, Hudson Parliament, Gene Riordan, Owen Linder, and Colin Whitters, wide receivers Brody Schaffer and Diondre Smith, defensive backs Marcello Vitti and Ronnie Hill, defensive lineman Sawyer Jezierski, and linebackers Kasen Thomas and Julian Manson on Iowa’s list. The Hawkeyes have also added preferred walk-ons Isaiah Oliver and Noah Daniel in the class as well.
