LSU remained hot on the recruiting trail when Zachary (La.) safety Kylin Jackson committed to LSU on Saturday. Jackson gave the Tigers a third in-state pledge in a week for the 2023 recruiting class.

“With LSU they got the new staff and they have still been pushing,” Jackson said ahead of his decision. “The new staff is really on it.”

The Tigers beat out the likes of Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Texas A&M and others for Jackson. The 6-2, 195-pounder took numerous unofficial visits to LSU and Texas A&M, but it was the Tigers that won out.

Jackson joins a safety class that includes four-star prospects Ryan Yaites and Michael Daugherty along with three-star safety pledge Ashton Stamps. Jackson is commitment No. 20 for Brian Kelly’s first full recruiting class, which ranks squarely in the Top 10 nationally.

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Kylin Jackson ranks as the No. 157 overall prospect in the country, No. 11 safety in the nation and No. 10 prospect in Louisiana.

Kylin Jackson scouting report

“State champion defensive back as a junior for undefeated Zachary (LA). He can plant and drive downhill as well as cover tight ends and running backs in the slot. Stands over 6-foot-2, 195 pounds with room to grow and fill out naturally. Striker as a tackler who looks to make plays in the backfield. Comfortable in coverage but not necessarily his strong suit.

“Needs to quicken his feet and loosen his hips in order to excel in coverage against more dynamic slot options. Has the size and frame to excel working in the box and covering jumbo slots at the next level. If he can become more dynamic and explosive in college then he could see his name appear on more draft boards once the time comes.” -On3 director of scouting Charles Power

Kylin Jackson has an On3 NIL Valuation of $18,200. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
