2023 Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy wide receiver Kyle Parker committed to LSU on Thursday, a short time removed from his LSU official visit. The trip to Baton Rouge was impressive, helping LSU land his pledge.

“The visit was great. I got the offer a week before I took my visit so it was great,” Parker told The Bengal Tiger. “I’ve always been an LSU fan. I watched them growing up as a younger kid. I earned the offer, worked out and got it. Coach Hankton showed a lot of love. Said he liked me as a player like the whole coaching staff. I definitely see myself fitting in their offense and what they’re trying to do up there with coach Kelly.

“I’m very high on LSU right now. It’s been one of my dream schools. I’m definitely very high on LSU.”

For Kyle Parker, wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton’s coaching style stood out the most to him from their conversations.

“He’s not a big, flashy guy. He knows what he’s talking about for sure,” Parker said. “He just came off a National Championship with the Georgia Bulldogs. He’s had receivers that’ve been productive like George Pickens. He definitely knows how to apply what he puts in practice into the game. Everything that he showed on film definitely translated to what he was doing in the game.”

Head coach Brian Kelly brings his winning ways to Baton Rouge, helping the Tigers stand out in addition to the history of receivers being developed.

“Coach Kelly was a cool coach. He’s had a lot of success,” Parker explained. “Real genuine coach, nice dude. He likes me as a player with what I can bring in the return game so that was nice talking to him knowing that he wants me to be at his school too. They don’t only want me to be a receiver, they saw what I can do in the return game. They want me to make an impact as soon as I can. LSU, they call it ‘Receiver U.’ It’s a great place for a receiver to go.”

Kyle Parker picks LSU over other big offers

Kyle Parker is a prospect who likes to make the big play after the catch. He picked the Tigers over Louisville, Oklahoma State, Texas and others.

“I would say my strengths are my yards after catch. I can make anybody miss. My film doesn’t show it as much, but I’m definitely a great route runner. I probably need to work on speed, I have speed, but that can improve. I’m trying not to drop anything going into my senior year.”

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Kyle Parker is the No. 95 overall wideout in the nation and No. 123 overall prospect in Texas. On3 is even higher on him, ranking him as the No. 43 wideout nationally and No. 55 prospect in Texas.
