Utah offensive lineman Darius Afalava is already ranked as one of the best sophomores in the country, and his offer list continues to grow following a visit to LSU.

Following Friday’s LSU OL/DL Camp, LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis extended an offer to Afalava following a strong showing in the morning session.

To this point, the Skyridge product had stacked up offers from West Coast teams.

Now, an SEC school is officially in the mix.

LSU makes a big impression on Afalava

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound 2025 prospect made his way to Baton Rouge for camp on Friday, and the trip gave Afalava the opportunity to both work out for offensive line coach Brad Davis while also spending time with the staff away from the field.

“My experience with the coaches made me feel as if I was at home because of all the hospitality and respect the South gave to me. Coach Davis was such a good vibe and helped me understand the techniques he taught me.”

With the chance to see Afalava work out in person, Davis made the move to extend a verbal scholarship before the Top 25 offensive tackle prospect left campus.

“The conversation was enjoyable,” Afalava said. “We got to really talk about how much he enjoyed my footwork and the coachability I have as a football player.

“We also got to talk about how close the players and fan base are, and how good the food was.”

The first SEC school has entered the race

The Utah native isn’t short on colleges interested in his commitment.

West Coast programs have already flocked to offer the Skyridge High product, and he’s already reeled in college offers from Utah, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, California and Arizona.

“A lot of people assumed that I would go to school on the West Coast, but after this visit it showed me that the South has so many similarities from back home, which makes me feel like the South is a home away from home,” Afalava said. “Not to mention, all of the family I have to help support me out here if I were to commit somewhere in the South.”

While on his visit to Baton Rouge, Afalava not only picked up an LSU offer, but also a verbal scholarship from Baylor.

Next up: a return trip to Baton Rouge to see the full scope of what LSU has to offer.

“I didn’t get the full experience because of a flight, but I hope to be back soon,” Afalava said. “I was hoping for a visit later in June or July, if possible. I’m hoping to get back for a game and a visit.”

Afalava is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 24 offensive tackle prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 3 recruit in Utah. He’s ranked by On3 as the No. 25 offensive tackle prospect and No. 2 recruit in Utah.
