2024 Lindale (Tex.) offensive lineman Casey Poe included LSU in his Top 8 schools, he announced on Thursday. ClemsonTexas TechAlabamaAuburnBaylorGeorgia and Oklahoma also made the cut.

The four-star prospect was impressed with what he saw in Baton Rouge on a visit earlier this year.

“I had a great time,” Poe told On3. “The campus is really an amazing sight with a smaller feel. The stadium looks amazing and imaginably gets rocking on Saturday nights, and the coaching staff was amazing! They seemed extremely personable and friendly, while able to push someone to their best when needed. Always seemed to have the person over the player in mind.”

Offensive line coach Brad Davis impressed him with their time spent together.

“He was super excited about having the chance to recruit me, and that I was the type of person and player that they are looking for at LSU,” Poe said last month. “They are definitely in high consideration, and I’m very excited to get back on campus. We don’t have anything set yet, but I will be back on campus at some point.”

The 6-foot-4.5, 285-pound recruit has visited some of his finalists this year. They include Oklahoma (Jan. 28), Texas Tech (April 1), Auburn (March 13), Alabama (April 15) and LSU (March 4). He’ll trip to Norman again on Saturday.

Poe plans a decision before his senior season. Oklahoma leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Alabama, Clemson, Texas Tech and others. He’ll officially visit Clemson on June 2 and Alabama on June 23. LSU is one of the schools gunning for a visit.

LSU target Casey Poe scouting report

“Sudden and physically dominant interior offensive line prospect who won a state championship in the shot put as a sophomore. Threw 57-foot-4 in the shot put and 129-foot-4 in the discus during his sophomore track and field season. Excellent hip flexibility and knee bend. Understands leverage and wins at the point of attack consistently.

“Violent in the run game and plays with tenacity. Terrific build and weight distribution throughout his frame. Lacks prototypical length to play on the outside but has the foot speed and body control to play tackle in a pinch. Need to see him maintain his athleticism as he adds mass. Has a chance to be the top interior lineman in the country.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Poe is the No. 151 overall prospect and No. 9 interior offensive lineman. On3 is even higher on him, ranking him as the No. 34 overall prospect in the country and No. 1 interior offensive lineman.
