2023 Camden (S.C.) defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod named his top 10 programs, he announced on Friday. LSU made the cut along with AlabamaAuburnGeorgiaFlorida, Florida State, MichiganOregon, Oklahoma and South Carolina.

LSU’s new coaching staff has stood out from the start. McLeod has been in contact with defensive line coach Jamar Cain a lot recently, including a visit to Baton Rouge last month.

“I visited recently and I liked everything I saw when I went down there,” McLeod said. “It was a great school and a great environment. I really want to build more on that relationship. They always keep it straightforward. Me and coach Cain sat down in the office and talked about where I’d line up. They said I could do so many good things if I played for him. When I hear stuff like that, it makes me feel good.

“I wish I didn’t have to leave,” McLeod added. “We were talking about a lot of great things, how I could start, how he wants me to make the league in three years.”

Visits not done for Xzavier McLeod

McLeod has been to most of his top 10 for visits. Now, his sights are set on visiting the ones he hasn’t seen and growing stronger relationships with the ones that he has already been to. Georgia will get a visit from McLeod on Monday and Tuesday.

“My senior season is coming, I wanted to make it easier for decision day,” McLeod told On3. “I really want to get to the schools that I haven’t to. The five I haven’t been to, are the ones I’m trying to get to now. I feel like once I knock those out of the way possibly during the summer, I can drop a top-five near later in the season.”

McLeod is the On3 Consensus No. 233 overall recruit in the 2023 class. He also ranks the No. 34 defensive tackle and No. 3 overall recruit in South Carolina. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Gamecocks the best shot to land him as he heads toward scheduling visits.

“I’m in the process of thinking about it,” McLeod said of his plan for official visits. “I’m thinking I’ll take my OVs to schools further out (from home).”

McLeod currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $9,600. The NIL Valuation is comprised of a number of dynamic data points that focus on two primary factors – an athlete’s social media presence and their level of athletic performance.
