2023 Miamisburg (Ohio) tight end Jackson McGohan made it official with LSU on the first day of the early signing period, inking with the Tigers. McGohan will enroll early in Baton Rouge.

The three-star prospect announced his commitment to LSU last week, giving offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock a second 2023 tight end commitment.

“Relationships, people,” McGohan told On3 of why he picked LSU. “I loved Baton Rouge. It was really fun. The people (stood out most). My whole time down there I didn’t encounter a single unkind person. It was a really good experience, especially coming from the Midwest.”

Denbrock had a relationship with McGohan when he was a Cincinnati commitment. The pair are now reunited and McGohan’s excited about the future with him.

“It’s always been awesome. He’s a really good guy, he knows what he’s doing,” McGohan said. “I definitely trust him and he trusts me. They told me that since I’m more of a receiving tight end, the offense could definitely expand a lot. I’ll be playing the Y spot, making plays for them.”

LSU getting big playmaker in Jackson McGohan

On3 scouting assistant Cody Bellaire broke down the new addition for the Tigers, who brings terrific athletic traits.

“Explosive offensive weapon at tight end who checks all the boxes when it comes to athletic traits for the position. Stands in at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds with a 6-foot-6 wingspan,” Bellaire told The Bengal Tiger. “Not as long or towering as you would like to be a physical mismatch, but has good density to his frame and is built solid. Ran an electronically-timed 4.89 40-yard dash during the spring camp circuit prior to his senior season. Also jumped a freakish 6-foot-2 high jump during his junior track and field campaign.”

According to On3, Jackson McGohan ranks as the No. 26 overall tight end in the nation and No. 15 prospect in Ohio.
