The Wolverine Chats Nate Marshall Commitment Another Visit For Marquise Davis & Spring Game Notes

Takeaways from last weekend’s Michigan spring game and the prospects who showed up to The Big House were discussed on The Wolverine live Tuesday recruiting show with analysts EJ Holland and Zach Libby.

They also spoke on a key 2025 target who recently made his third spring return to Ann Arbor on Tuesday: On300 Cleveland Heights (Ohio) High running back Marquise Davis.

Watch the full show above.

Davis Recruitment

Michigan signed the top-ranked running back out of Ohio in the 2024 cycle in Jordan Marshall. This offseason, newly hired running backs coach Tony Alford is prioritizing Davis, the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for The Buckeye State.

All three of Davis’ returns since last month have come with Alford on staff. Head coach Sherrone Moore is also heavily involved in this recruitment.

“I say (Alford and I) are pretty close,” Davis previously told The Wolverine. “The same way (when) he was at O-state. He’s pretty straightforward. He knows what he wants. I think he could help my game in multiple ways as far as pass blocking, where to read, how to read it, what to look at before the play and all that.

“It’s been pretty smooth (with Moore). I think he’s carrying along the boat pretty well, to be honest. I don’t see falling parts or anything.”

Davis first visited Michigan this past November when he saw the win over Ohio State.

“I think even prior to the whole situation with Coach Alford, Marquise was already pretty impressed with Michigan,” Cleveland Heights head coach Mac Stephens previously told The Wolverine. “It’s hard not to be impressed with the school with that type of history. But I remember when we went for the Ohio State game, being a part of that atmosphere and just experience that and see how they operate up close, you couldn’t help but be impressed.”

Along with Michigan, Davis currently holds notable offers from the Buckeyes, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida, Penn State, Notre Dame, USC, Texas A&M, Miami, Missouri, Michigan State, and others.

At 5-foot-11, 200 pounds, Davis is listed as the No. 114 overall prospect and No. 7 running back in the country, according to On3. He’s also the No. 4 recruit in Ohio. Michigan is second for Davis on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 42.2 percent chance of landing him.

Four verbal commits make up Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class – Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nate Marshall, On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens
