The Wolverine's Ej Holland Breaks Down 5 Priority Targets For New Dl Coach Lou Esposito I #Goblue

On3 released its updated On300 rankings for the 2025 recruiting class, which saw significant movement for Michigan’s verbal commits and the prospects the reigning national champions are heavily prioritizing.

The Wolverine takes a look at where the U-M targets currently rank after the changes and where things stand for the program.

Overland Park (Kans.) Blue Valley Northwest OT Andrew Babalola (No. 14 Overall) – The Metro Kansas City mauler kept his Top 15 ranking nationally, along with his Top 5 ranking among all offensive linemen this cycle. Babalola, who was born in Bloomfield Township, visited Michigan for the first time in late March. His connection to head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive line coach Grant Newsome continues to grow as the junior is eyeing a return for an official visit.

Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks East OL Michael Carroll (No. 27 Overall) – A legacy of Michigan State and Penn State, Carroll made a significant jump to over 40 spots. He’s showing a deep interest in the Wolverines after making four total appearances in Ann Arbor since late July for the BBQ at The Big House. Carroll has an official visit scheduled to U-M on June 21-23.

Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic WR Quincy Porter (No. 31 Overall) – One of Michigan’s top priorities regardless of position this cycle, Porter is coming off his third visit on campus last week. The relationship between himself and wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is going strong, as the latter has done a great job of showcasing Porter’s fit in the offense. U-M is targeting a bigger-bodied playmaker on the outside, and Porter matches the criteria.

Monroe (N.C.) High safety Jordan Young (No. 36 Overall) – Michigan was vying to get Young, who fell six spots due to the update, on campus for the first time this past weekend. While it didn’t transpire, Young, who’s also the No. 2 safety in the country, is now scheduled to arrive at Schembechler Hall today. Young’s communication with newly hired defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan has been consistent since U-M hired Morgan from Louisiana Lafayette earlier in the offseason.

Elkhart (Ind.) High EDGE Mariyon Dye (No. 40 Overall) – Dye jumped seven spots to eclipse the Top 40 mark, as On3 is the only primary recruiting media service to rank the Indiana pass rusher within the Top 100. Michigan offered Dye in November when the junior visited for the Purdue game. He returned this past Tuesday to meet with new defensive line coach Lou Esposito. The staff is working towards getting Dye around the facilities again for an official visit.

Shaker Heights (Ohio) High safety Trey McNutt (No. 56 Overall) – Michigan landed in the Top 8 for McNutt, who dropped to No. 3 in the state of Ohio, earlier this month. Holding significant ties to the Buckeyes, McNutt has yet to return to Ann Arbor since late November. Texas A&M, USC, Florida, Tennessee, and Oregon are also involved with McNutt, who’s been in contact with Morgan.

Chester (Va.) Thomas Dale CB Shamari Earls (No. 70 Overall) – Despite Earls not including Michigan in his Top 10 list that was released in mid-March, the Wolverines are back in the picture following contact made between him and Morgan. Earls, who fell eight spots in the 2025 On300, is hopeful to make it out to Ann Arbor this offseason.

Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nate Marshall (No. 71 Overall) – Marshall visited Michigan twice last year, Including for the Ohio State game. Continuing to hold the top ranking among all Illinois prospects this cycle, Marshall is expected to return to Ann Arbor this weekend for the spring game. Miami, Alabama, and others are heavy contenders to land the Chicagoland pass rusher as well.

Center Valley (Pa.) Southern Lehigh TE Andrew Olesh (No. 79 Overall) – Olesh vaulted nine spots in the 2025 On300, and he’s noted three schools that have appeared to stand out above the rest – Michigan, Penn State, and Alabama. Olesh has an official visit scheduled with the Wolverines on June 21-23. His relationship with new tight ends coach Steve Casula continues to grow this offseason.

Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor safety JaDon Blair (No. 86 Overall) – Although Blair fell nearly 40 spots in the 2025 On300, Michigan has made the elite secondary prospect a top priority. Blair visited Ann Arbor on March 21, where he watched spring camp practice and built further chemistry with the defensive staff. Blair also has an official visit set with the Wolverines on June 14-16.

Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman WR Derek Meadows (No. 97 Overall) – Meadows remains the No. 1 overall prospect in Nevada by On3, and Michigan is expected to host the elite pass catcher for the first time on April 20 when the spring game commences. Bishop Gorman was home to Meadows’ former teammate in 2024 running back signee Micah Ka’apana. All three of Meadows’ four-star 2025 offensive linemen teammates have visited Ann Arbor as well.

Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola LB Elijah Melendez (No. 112 Overall) – Melendez is verbally committed to Miami, but a return visit to Michigan from the Central Florida defender took place this past weekend. He’s currently still on campus to watch spring camp practice. Melendez first appeared in Ann Arbor for the Ohio State game, which happened shortly before his pledge to the Hurricanes. Recently added linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary formally recruited Melendez, who fell three spots, at his former tenure with Tennessee.

Cleveland Heights (Ohio) High RB Marquise Davis (No. 114 Overall) – Davis, who dropped 12 spots on the On300, has made two visits to Michigan this spring and has considered the reigning national title winners to be in his Top 3. Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, and others are also involved. His relationship with running backs coach Tony Alford carries over swimmingly from Columbus to Ann Arbor, and the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for Ohio will officially visit the Wolverines on June 7-9.

Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central EDGE Damien Shanklin (No. 117 Overall) – Shanklin has been a constant this cycle regarding Michigan key targets on the defensive line. Falling 10 spots by On3, Shanklin took in the game against Ohio State last season and was planning to return in late March, but didn’t make it in. He has a relationship with Esposito from the latter’s short time at Memphis. The No. 1 overall prospect in Indiana is looking to travel to Ann Arbor later in the offseason.

Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela-St. Joseph RB Bo Jackson (No. 126 Overall) – Alford also welcomed in Jackson for spring camp practice this past month, which resulted in Michigan being back in the running for the Northeast Ohio tailback. Jackson, who fell out of the Top 100 on On3 because of the update, didn’t make it to a game at The Big House last season. However, due to Alford coming from Ohio State, Jackson’s connection to the assistant led to a change in interest. Another offseason return is in the works.

Columbus (Ohio) Marion-Franklin CB Dawayne Galloway (No. 162 Overall) – Galloway is a heavy lean to Michigan on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Staying in the Top 175 in the country by On3 following the On300 update, Galloway is expected to make his third visit to Ann Arbor on Thursday, where he’ll get face-to-face meetings with Morgan. Last on campus for the Purdue game, Galloway doesn’t have a June official visit scheduled to U-M, but that could very well change later this week.

Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School LB Kamar Archie (No. 197 Overall) – Archie stayed within the Top 200 nationally, but fell seven spots. Still, his downhill prowess is a must-land for Michigan this cycle. The Wolverines hosted Archie, who’s a former teammate of 2024 defensive lineman signee Owen Wafle, during the final weekend of the winter contact period. Holding a good connection with Jean-Mary, Archie is set to return to watch the spring game on Saturday.

The follow Michigan targets were featured outside of the Top 200 – Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei running back Jordon Davison (No. 241 Overall), Newport News (Va.) Warwick athlete Messiah Delhomme (No. 245 Overall), Shawnee (Kans.) Mill Valley EDGE Jayden Woods (No. 269 Overall), Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard running back Iverson Howard (No. 274 Overall), Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman offensive tackle Douglas Utu (No. 281 Overall), Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage running back Byron Louis (No. No. 291 Overall), and Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman interior offensive lineman SJ Alofaituli (No. 297 Overall).
