The Wolverine's Ej Holland Breaks Down 5 Priority Targets For New Dl Coach Lou Esposito I #Goblue

Michigan fell to No. 23 overall on the 2025 On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings following the updated release of the 2025 On300 on Monday, which saw movement from all three U-M verbal commits this cycle.

Before the changes, the Wolverines had two pledges listed in the On300 this cycle. However, one remains in Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith. Falling 23 spots from No. 187 overall to No. 210 in the country, Smith is also listed as the No. 19 quarterback nationally and No. 25 recruit in Florida.

Smith is coming off his outing at the Elite 11 Regional in Orlando last weekend. The reigning Gatorade Player of the Year for Florida has been committed to Michigan since November of last year when his first-ever visit to Ann Arbor for the Purdue game led to his decision.

Falling out of the On300 is Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, who was previously the No. 297 overall prospect in the 2025 class. But he’s kept a four-star ranking by On3 and remains in the Top 20 nationally among all defensive linemen. Kanka is also No. 3 overall in the in-state rankings.

Kanka committed to Michigan in the summer of last year upon his return to campus for the annual BBQ at The Big House. Both Kanka and Smith are expected to be in Ann Arbor this weekend for the spring game on April 20. Kickoff is at noon on FOX.

Rounding out Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class is three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens, who’s listed as the No. 484 overall prospect and No. 26 tight end in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 15 recruit in Tennessee.

Dozens of 2025 top targets remain on Michigan’s board, such as five-star Overland Park (Kans.) Blue offensive tackle Andrew Babalola, Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nate Marshall, Top 100 Monroe (N.C.) High safety Jordan Young, Top 100 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman offensive tackle Douglas Utu, Top 100 Center Valley (Pa.)
