The Wolverine's Ej Holland Breaks Down 5 Michigan Football Recruits He Has Ranked Higher Than On3

Michigan’s spring game is on Saturday, and the reigning national champions are set to welcome an array of underclassmen to The Big House.

The Wolverine examines the five highest-ranked prospects on the visitors list for the scrimmage and where things currently stand.

Top 100 EDGE Nate Marshall, Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 40 Overall, No. 4 Defensive Lineman, No. 1 in Illinois
RPM: Alabama (28.8%), Miami (20.3%), Michigan (13.1%), Notre Dame (7.4%)
Past U-M Visits: 11/25/23, 7/30/23

Nate Marshall is coming off spring unofficial visits to Miami, Alabama, and Auburn. The Chicagoland pass rusher is interested in playing college football in the south, but Michigan has Marshall’s attention, too, with the spring game being the first time he pops up in Ann Arbor this offseason. It’ll also be his second time watching the Wolverines with the pads on, having witnessed the win over Ohio State in late November. Newly hired defensive line coach Lou Esposito has been in contact with Marshall, and head coach Sherrone Moore is also heavily involved.

Top 100 WR Derek Meadows, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 51 Overall, No. 7 Wide Receiver, No. 2 in Nevada
RPM: Notre Dame (92.5%), South Carolina (3.8%), Michigan (1.2%)
Past U-M Visits: N/A

Derek Meadows has familiarity with Southeast Michigan because of having family residing there. He has a former Bishop Gorman teammate currently signed with U-M in 2024 running back Micah Ka’apana, and has three elite offensive line teammates who’ve flown cross-country to campus once. Aside from his high school connections, Meadows is good friends with Tyler Morris and I’Marion Stewart. Wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy is pushing hard for the Sin City playmaker, who’s favorite to commit to Notre Dame. Still, a solid passing attack shown in the spring game will help solidify the Wolverines as a contender.

Top 100 CB Mark Zackery, Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis, 2025

Industry Ranking: No. 94 Overall, No. 10 Cornerback, No. 2 in Indiana
RPM: Notre Dame (94.8%), Michigan (1.3%)
Past U-M Visits: 10/17/23

Mark Zackery added Michigan to his Top 4 list in late February and is expected to also take an offical visit to Ann Arbor in two months. His first trip on campus occurred mid-week, and the return will provide him opportunities to be face-to-face with new defensive backs coach LaMar Morgan, who’s been in contact with the cornerback and his loved ones. Notre Dame is trending considerably for Zackery. He’s also considering Cincinnati and Florida. However, on-and-off the field amenities provided at U-M have been highlights for Zackery and his interest in playing for the Wolverines.

Top 100 WR Jabari Mack, New Orleans (La.) Destrehan, 2026

On3 Ranking: No. 40 Overall, No. 6 Wide Receiver, No. 5 in Louisiana
RPM: Mississippi State (49.5%), LSU (15.4%), Michigan (13.2%), Oregon (11.0%)
Past U-M Visits: N/A

Jabari Mack picked up an offer from Michigan earlier in the winter contact period when Bellamy stopped by his alma mater. Mack’s teammate, 2025 wide receiver target Phillip Wright, is also on the visitors list. Having similar backgrounds and roots as Bellamy initiated an immediate connection for Mack, who’s mentioned that U-M winning the College Football Playoff is a big plus. With this weekend being the first time Mack shows up to Ann Arbor, garnering comfort away from home will be crucial, as well as seeing Bellamy’s development of the wideouts.

On300 TE Mack Sutter, Dunlap (Ill.) High, 2026

On3 Ranking: No. 121 Overall, No. 7 Tight End, No. 1 in Illinois
RPM: Iowa (91.2%), Wisconsin (1.7%), Michigan (1.4%), Nebraska (1.2%)
Past U-M Visits: N/A

Mack Sutter is one of two Top 10 ranked 2026 tight ends from the state of Illinois expected to visit Michigan for the first time on Saturday. On300 JC Anderson will join him. Although tight ends coach Steve Casula is putting effort into adding more pieces to this class, he’s cultivated early key targets for the Wolverines next cycle, with Sutter at the forefront. Sutter’s father, Eddie Sutter, played for Northwestern in the 90s and went on to the NFL. An early On3 Prediction was issued for Sutter to commit to Iowa, which has hosted him three times. Still, the overall production Michigan has experienced regarding tight end development has been a topic that positional recruits continue to stress, and the chance to see Colston Loveland in a live setting should spurn further intrigue for Sutter.
