Sherrone Moore & Michigan Football Land Big Commitment From 4-star Dl Nate Marshall I Wolverines

Michigan notched a commitment from Top 100 Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nathaniel Marshall on Monday morning.

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on Marshall and the recruiting win in the video above.

Marshall Recruitment

Marshall picked Michigan over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, USC and a slew of other major programs.

“I really like Michigan,” Marshall said. “I like how they utilize their defensive line and have their defensive ends play out of a two-point stance. I like playing out of a two-point stance because you’re able to visualize more. They’ve also produced a lot of great players.”

As Marshall alluded to, Michigan has become EDGE U over the last few years.

The Wolverines have produced multiple NFL Draft picks at the position, including the likes of Aidan Hutchinson and David Ojabo. And that production certainly has Marshall’s attention.

“They have had guys like Aidan Hutchinson and more,” Marshall said. “I really like the production. It tells me that they know what they are doing and that I can trust them.”

Marshall is the first commit for Michigan in almost four months. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore personally led the way in this recruitment and visited him at his high school during the winter contact period. Marshall is also the first recruiting win for Moore, who previously was the area recruiter in Chicagoland, as head coach at Michigan.

New Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito also played a big role in this commitment and was very involved on the visit.

Marshall is listed as a defensive lineman, but Michigan is recruiting him as a pass rusher.

Marshall’s mother, Khara, played basketball at DePaul, and his uncle, Ken Norman, played basketball at Illinois before enjoying a lengthy career in the NBA.

At 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, Marshall is ranked as the No. 4 defensive lineman and No. 40 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Illinois.

Marshall is part of a four-man 2025 Michigan recruiting class that also includes On300 Fort Myers (Fla). Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens. The class entered the day ranked No. 23 nationally and No. 5 in the Big Ten, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings.
