The Wolverine Discusses Michigan Football Spring Game Visitors Elite 11 Recap & On3 Rpm Movement

A preview of this weekend’s visiting recruits for Michigan’s spring game was discussed on The Wolverine live Tuesday recruiting show with analysts EJ Holland and Zach Libby, including one of the pass rushers in the 2025 recruiting class – Top 100 Oak (Ill.) Fenwick EDGE Nate Marshall.

Marshall Recruitment

Marshall’s return to Michigan on Saturday will mark his third visit to Ann Arbor since late July of last year. He previously took in the annual BBQ at The Big House and later saw the game against Ohio State in late November.

Newly hired defensive line coach Lou Esposito has been in contact with Marshall a few times in the weeks following the former’s addition to the Michigan staff.

Here’s what Holland had to say about this recruitment and where Michigan stands.

“I’ve been out to see him and everything. That was back in the fall,” Holland said. “Since then, his recruitment has really taken a turn, and you’re seeing more Southern programs involved. Auburn has gotten a visit. Alabama is now the leader on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Miami is getting the last (official visit). So, you’re seeing a bit of a trend there with schools that have really strong opportunities. Strong NIL programs. If that’s going to be a big factor in this recruitment, then I’m not super optimistic. With that said, Esposito has put in some good work here, and Marshall coming back for the spring game shows that he still has legitimate interest.”

At 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, Marshall is listed as the No. 40 overall prospect and No. 4 defensive lineman in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting services. He’s also the No. 1 recruit in the state of Illinois.

Michigan currently yields three verbal commits in the 2025 recruiting class – On300 Ft. Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, four-star Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka, and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens.
