Michigan brought in five 2024 uncommitted targets for the final official visit weekend of June. Three of whom were on official visits while two returned unofficially.

The Wolverine takes a look at where Michigan stands with each prospect.

Top 100 WR Gatlin Bair, Burley (Idaho) Senior

RPM: Michigan (71.9%), Oregon (9.2%), TCU (6.0%)

The Skinny: Gatlin Bair took his first-ever visit to Michigan after months of heavy communication with safeties coach Jay Harbaugh, wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy and head coach Jim Harbaugh. All three were actively involved on the official visit with Bair telling The Wolverine that his experience either met or succeeded initial expectations. An On3 prediction was place in favor of Michigan on Sunday but the No. 40 overall prospect in the country will return to Boise State at the end of July for a multi-day unofficial visit. He’s expected to announce a commitment at the beginning of August.

Top 100 Safety Zaquan Patterson, Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna

RPM: Miami (93.3%), Michigan (1.8%)

The Skinny: Zaquan Patterson visited Michigan twice before this past weekend but his most previous return included his mother, who’s going to be a key piece when deciding which school will receive his services. Patterson was also with Chaminade-Madonna teammate and On300 U-M cornerback commit Chris Ewald. Co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale and Jay Harbaugh have built a strong relationship with Patterson, who hasn’t yet planned a date in which he’ll drop a commitment. Miami has two On3 predictions on its side but the Wolverines are gaining positive traction for the 6-foot-0.5, 185-pounder.

On300 CB Jameer Grimsley, Tampa (Fla.) Catholic

RPM: Florida State (18.6%), Alabama (16.3%), Penn State (14.0%), Michigan (8.8%)

The Skinny: Michigan was trailing behind a slew of Power 5 contenders for Jameer Grimsley but the No. 11 overall cornerback nationally told The Wolverine on Monday that the official visit is going to make his “decision a lot harder.” Clinkscale, Will Johnson and Keon Sabb were instrumental in pitching the benefits of U-M’s development and camaraderie inside the cornerback room. Grimsley said that he plans to publicly release a Top 3 next month with the Wolverines guaranteed to be added.

On300 EDGE Jacob Smith, Cheshire (Conn.) Academy

RPM: Michigan (94.0%), Nebraska (1.4%)

The Skinny: It’s now down to two Big Ten rivals for Jacob Smith with Michigan welcoming the 6-foot-4, 255-pounder twice this month. The first taking place three weeks ago on an official visit. Last weekend, Smith returned again with twin brother and four-star defensive line commit Jerod Smith. The Wolverines were featured in Smith’s cutdown of his offer sheet next to Nebraska with a looming decision coming sometime in the summer. Defensive line coach Mike Elston and pass rush specialist Dylan Roney are leading the charge to get a commitment from Smith, ranked as the No. 18 EDGE in the country, who has four On3 predictions put in for him to choose the Wolverines.

On300 CB Terhyon Nichols, Cincinnati (Ohio) Withrow University

RPM: Kentucky (27.6%), Michigan (19.4%), Penn State (16.7%), Ohio State (10.5%)

The Skinny: Terhyon Nichols has kept his cards close to his chest throughout the month of June as Michigan was the final school to bring him on campus for an official visit. His standing on U-M’s cornerback board continues to climb too as the team recently lost out on Bryce West and are battling the Buckeyes for Aaron Scott. Listed as the No. 7 overall prospect in the state of Ohio, Nichols notched his offer from Michigan back in March when he first stepped foot in Ann Arbor. No On3 predictions have been placed so far for any school to land Nichols.
