Mississippi State enters Saturday with a 3-3 overall record and an 0-3 SEC mark. The Bulldogs lost their previous SEC road game at South Carolina, 37-30, and look for better results against Arkansas. The Razorbacks are 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the league, and they are currently on a five-game losing streak. The Razorbacks have dropped close games at Alabama, Ole Miss and LSU in previous weeks.

For the Bulldogs, they will get their share of traveling this month. State does not play at Davis Wade Stadium until November when three of the final four games will be in Starkville.

The Series

Arkansas leads the series 18-13-1 and the Razorbacks have won four of the seven meetings in Fayetteville, Ark. However, Mississippi State has won eight of the last 11 meetings with Arkansas and that includes a 40-17 victory at Davis Wade Stadium last season.

In last year’s win, Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns to pace the Bulldog offensive attack.

INJURY REPORT

For the most part, Arkansas appears to be in better shape than the Bulldogs from an injury standpoint. The Razorbacks will be without star running back Rocket Sanders but are relatively healthy otherwise.

The same can’t be said for Mississippi State and it is a mixed bag. Defensive end De’Monte Russell and receiver Justin Robinson have missed the last two games but both are expected to play Saturday.

Mississippi State running backs Jo’quavious Marks and Jeffery Pittman are questionable to play against Arkansas. Pittman has missed the last two games while Marks was injured two weeks ago against Western Michigan.

The Bulldogs are also expected to be without starting quarterback Will Rogers, which means Mike Wright will get his first start as a Bulldog. Rogers injured his shoulder in the win over Western Michigan and his return to the field is uncertain for future weeks.

Rogers has started 38 consecutive games for the Bulldogs, the fifth-longest active streak in the FBS ranks. Rogers is the school’s all-time leader in passing yards (11,964 yards) and passing touchdowns (92).
