COLUMBUS — Ohio State has started its in-home visits with perhaps its most important in-state pledge.

The Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day and offensive line coach Justin Frye drove up to Findlay and visited four-star Findlay offensive lineman Luke Montgomery.

Montgomery was the first offensive lineman to commit with Frye as the offensive line coach at Ohio State. He is the No. 1 rated prospect in Ohio, the No. 2 rated interior offensive lineman and the No. 30 overall prospect in the 2023 cycle according to On3.

Luke Montgomery has been one of the most active, if not the most active peer recruiter in the Buckeyes 2023 class. From the moment he committed in mid-February he was in constant contact with other high-end prospects the Buckeyes were after including wide receiver Brandon Inniss and defensive lineman Jason Moore.

Lettermen Row visited with Montgomery back in August after Ohio State survived a tough summer on the trail and his sentiments to the fans about the future offered calm in a time of panic to the fanbase.

“A lot of [the fans] respected that [message] and there’s no reason to freak out,” Montgomery said. “We’re The Ohio State. We’re up there with Alabama, Clemson and all of them. We’re going to get guys that we want.”

Luke Montgomery is the second highest-rated recruit in the Buckeyes 2023 class, only trailing Brandon Inniss. The Buckeyes 2023 class is ranked No. 4 in the consensus team rankings and is the top-rated class in the Big Ten.

While the 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman is scouted as an interior, he is expected to move to tackle as an early enrollee in January.

Montgomery has all the skill sets necessary to be successful at Ohio State.
