Four-Star EDGE Colton Vasek Names Top Five

Oregon Duck Washingtonby: Justin Hopkins06/03/22

Oregon continues to try and attack the Lone Star state looking for top talent. They have made a huge push to get on the short list for Westlake (Texas) EDGE Colton Vasek. And it would appear those efforts have paid off.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder announced a top five Thursday night. Oregon, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Clemson made the cut.

Vasek told On3’s Hayes Fawcett why Oregon made the cut.

“Really love the development aspect of the program. Coach Lanning and Coach Lupoi have both experienced winning national championships at very high levels and also have a lot of experience coaching the edge position specifically. I also have great relationships with the entire staff in general. I’m constantly in touch with Coach Lanning, Coach Lupoi, and Coach Powledge. I feel like they’re not only great coaches, but great people. The area of Oregon was also super cool and I already feel like I have a good connection with a lot of the players.”

Texas has been the strong favorite per the On3 RPM. However the Ducks have made up some ground on the four-star from Texas.

With my recent prediction to Oregon, the Ducks are now at 27% and the second highest team.

Vasek will visit Clemson this weekend officially and will visit Oregon on June 17. He took an unofficial visit to Oregon in early April.

For more on this update, On3’s Sam Spiegelman has an in-depth piece on the finalists and his visit plans.
