Gamecock men’s basketball commit Eli Ellis stunned fans after scoring 50 points in one game on his Overtime Elite team, YNG Dreamerz.

Ellis scored an impressive 21 points in the first half but truly made a name for himself and his game by scoring 29 points in the second half to secure the record.

This is not the first time Ellis has scored 50+ points in a game. Ellis scored 51 points on July 8th, 2022. Then almost one year later on June 9th, 2023, Ellis scored 50 points in an AAU tournament in Dallas.

Ellis did it again Saturday dropping 50 points to break the OverTime Elite (OTE) single-game scoring record. The previous record was 44 scored by Ellis himself earlier in the season.

Amongst players in the 2025 class, Ellis finds himself ranked #35. The Hickory, NC native stands at 6’1” and committed to the Gamecocks on November 15, 2023.

The four star combo guard committed to South Carolina over schools like Mississippi State, College of Charleston, Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth. The commitment was huge for the future of South Carolina basketball as many talented players will soon graduate.

“Why South Carolina? Coach Paris and them, they believed in me. They’re in the SEC, big time,” he said in announcing his commitment through an On3 live stream. “Nobody really thought I could play on that level, play in the SEC. Coach Paris and that staff really believed in me and have a plan for me to play there. I really trust them.”

Ellis’ 50 points was predicted by many due to his high scoring reputation and creative play. His success on the court is led by his skill, ball handling and toughness making up for his smaller frame.

Not only was a 50 point game impressive but Ellis did so with a broken finger. Being one of the best offensive players in the country will bring a new level of talent and skill to Lamont Paris’ Gamecocks.

Ellis took to TikTok where he has 791,800 followers after the win posting with the caption “Just made history.”
