South Carolina men’s basketball continue to build towards their future by adding a pair of commitments today from Finland.

We’ll start with Morris Ugusuk out of Omnia Basketball Academy. A 6-foot-4 point guard regarded as a three-star by On3, he’s rated as the 86th overall prospect. He’s considered the No.18 combo guard for his class. Averaging just over 12 points per game this season, he also added 4.6 assists a game. It’s with that versatility of having the ability to be both a scorer as well a facilitator that will give South Carolina flexibility as to how they want to use him. In addition, Ugusuk also averaged nearly four rebounds per game and 1.4 steals.

He chooses the Gamecocks over schools including Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, Duquesne and Dayton.

In addition to Ugusuk, his teammate Omnia Basketball Academy teammate Okku Federiko also committed to South Carolina on Thursday. Currently a member of the class of 2024, On3 has him rated as a three-star prospect and the No.137 player overall in his class. He’s considered the No.18 power forward for his class.

Standing at 6-foot-9, the last name may be one that Gamecock fans remember. South Carolina recruited Federiko’s brother, Fede, during the last recruiting cycle. Ultimately though, Fede committed to Pittsburgh. While their style of play is different, it’s worth noting that Fede’s game translated well in the states as he played a key role for the Panthers in this past NCAA Tournament.

Okku chooses South Carolina over a long list of offers including Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Duquesne. As Gamecock Central’s Collyn Taylor wrote, in nine games on the EYBL circuit, Federiko averaged ten points and shot nearly 50 percent from inside of the arch. He also averaged just shy of nine rebounds a game and had four blocks.
