'24 guard Trent Noah commits to South Carolina

Trent Noah smiled to the camera and unzipped his shirt, revealing a South Carolina logo and ending a recruitment that started in July and ended Sunday with him committing to the Gamecocks.

For Noah, it was a day coming for a while and a day he and South Carolina’s staff enjoyed immensely.

“It was awesome. It was a dream come true,” Noah told GamecockCentral. “To do it alongside my mom, dad and sister and friends an family there with me was a phenomenal experience. You can’t describe it with words.”

Noah committed to South Carolina over schools like Western Kentucky, Seton Hall, Butler and others. He’s the Gamecocks’ second addition in the 2024 class, a top-150 prospect and the second-best player in Kentucky.

South Carolina began showing interest over the summer, offered him and hosted him a few weeks ago for an official visit. That visit was his first chance to spend extended in-person time around the staff and helped push him to commit.

“Really just the people and the coaching staff there. They’re exceptional people and running a real high-level program. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I just really wanted to be a part of it,” Noah said.

“Meeting coach (Lamont) Paris and the staff was a great experience. They’re just good, genuine people. I wanted to surround myself with them.”

He also got to meet some of the current South Carolina players and see the atmosphere at a football game.

“It was awesome. One thing that stood out was the players’ interaction with each other and with the fans. The fans really stood out,” Noah said. “Gamecock fans are crazy and it’s awesome to be part of that. Hopefully, we’ll be able to give them something to cheer for.”

On3 ranks Noah as a three-star shooting guard and the No. 146 player in the 2024 class. He’s the second-ranked player in Kentucky and the No. 196 player in the Industry Rankings.

Noah is one of the better shooters in the class, hitting over 42 percent over the summer on the Adidas circuit. South Carolina also likes his ability to make plays and bring a winning skill set to a roster once he arrives on campus.

“Coach Paris talks about being a competitor and he sees that in me,” Noah said. “Then being able to shoot the ball and stretch the floor and having a high IQ and being able to shoot, dribble and pass. Those are the guys he wants to play with and wants to recruit. That’s where he’s had success.”

He’ll have a chance to make an impact early once he gets to South Carolina, and Noah thinks that’ll start with his ability to make shots.

“Hopefully be able to do what I do best. I feel the top of that is being able to shoot the ball,” he said. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to knock down some shots and do whatever coach Paris and the staff asks to help us get some wins.”
