Spring football practices are important times for any football program at any level. It’s a way to determine the talent available for the following season’s team, what a program’s strengths and weaknesses are, best practices for the 85-man roster, and as a method to welcome newcomers to the team.

The 15 spring football practices for the Texas Longhorns will be an important one entering year three under Steve Sarkisian. The Longhorns will need to determine who succeeds Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson at running back, develop Quinn Ewers as a quarterback, and replaces two NFL-level talents on the defensive line, plus another at linebacker.

The dates of those 14 practices that lead up to the 2023 Orange-White game on April 15 have been revealed.

Texas will open spring football with three practices in the first full week of March, with days at the Denius Fields scheduled for March 6, March 8, and March 10.

As opposed to years past, Texas is beginning its 15 practice slate prior to UT’s spring break, which runs from March 13 through March 18. The team will return to the practice field on Wednesday, March 22, with practices on March 24 and March 25 to follow.

The team then gets into a regular Monday-Wednesday-Friday rhythm for six consecutive practices. The Longhorns will hit the field March 27, March 29, March 31, April 3, April 5, and April 7.

The Longhorns will be on the field twice in the week leading up to the spring game, with practices Wednesday April 12 and Friday April 15. The Orange-White Game will take place on April 15 at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Also revealed was the weekend for the 2023 Coaches Clinic. That will take place March 24 and 25, so coaches from around the state will be able to see just what happens at a Longhorn football practice. Camp dates were announced, too, with an “Elite Camp” on June 3, a specialist camp on June 10, and a “40 Acre Takeover” on June 11.
