Chris Beard and staff hosted one of the nation’s top prospects in the 2022 class over the weekend.

On3 4-star and No. 22 overall Jordan Walsh (Link Year Prep, Mo. via Dallas) made his official visit to Texas over the weekend.

The 6-foot-7 athletic wing with a coach’s dream 7-foot-3 wingspan gave the Longhorns high marks.

“It was good. It was really good,” Walsh told On3. “We went to Lil Baby’s concert Friday night. That was cool. Some of the former players in the NBA went to the concert,”

Those Longhorns now in the NBA in town over the weekend were MoBamba and Kai Jones. The message to Walsh from the duo was simple.

“They said their experience at Texas was great. They both said if I want to go to the NBA, go to Texas,”

Walsh was not shy about asking the current players omg the team about the Chris Beard experience thus far.

“I talked to Jaylon Tyson. He told me they grind. They work hard. The team told me about the culture with Coach Beard, and how much it has changed at Texas since he got there.”

Walsh had two important questions for Chris Beard on the visit.

“We talked about the offense. How I would fit, and how he could get me to the NBA after a year. That’s my goal,”

One thing Beard and staff did not do is pressure Walsh for a commitment.

“Coach Beard told me I will know in my heart. Your heart will tell you where you need to be.”

Walsh mentioned that his official visit schedule could get juggled around. He may go to Memphis next weekend, and then Kansas October 9. Arkansas also remains very much in the mix. Should the October 9 visit happen, IT expects a decision pretty quick after that final visit.
