And then there were three. Dallas (Texas) South Oak Cliff cornerback Malik Muhammad dropped his top schools list and the Texas Longhorns made the final cut, along with Texas A&M and Alabama.

The 6-foot, 172-pound cornerback has plenty of offers with 43, including Alabama, Michigan, LSU, Georgia, and Miami. Muhammad dropped a top six of Texas A&MTexas, MiamiMichiganAlabamaand Florida earlier this year.

“(Texas) is the home state team,” Muhammad told Inside Texas. “Coach (Terry) Joseph and (UT) came full-fledged at me once I put them in my top six. I think they’re building something special at Texas.”

The On3 four-star tripped to Texas three weeks ago for his official visit, and has been looking stronger at the Horns ever since.

“(Texas) been recruiting me hard,” Muhammed told On3. “They just built a great relationship. That’s really it.”

In the span of seven days, the Longhorns have landed eight commitments for the Class of 2023, including New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman QB, On3 Five-Star+Plus Arch Manning. It’s sent ripples throughout the college recruiting landscape. And after a strong official trip to Austin, the wave of momentum can be felt in South Dallas.

Muhammad’s South Oak Cliff teammate, EDGE Billy Walton, flipped from Oklahoma State to Texas on Tuesday. He’s certainly being influenced from his state champion teammate and fellow Golden Bear.

Muhammad ranks as the No. 50 prospect and No. 5 cornerback in the country per the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks even higher in the On300 rankings as the No. 26 prospect and No. 2 cornerback nationally.

The four-star has an On3 NIL Valuation of $183K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
