This is Sanborn’s third straight preseason making the watch list. Texas has one Ray Guy Award winner in its history. Michael Dickson earned the honor for his 2017 season which ended with Texas Bowl MVP honors.

In 42 games with Stanford, Sanborn punted 192 times for a total of 7980 yards. That was good for an average of 41.6 yards per punt. His career long was 68 yards and he had 37 punts of 50 yards or more during his career. Sixty-four of his kicks were downed inside the 20.

During his final season with the Cardinal, Sanborn punted 57 times for 2376 yards with 18 downed inside the 20.

Per release, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet in mid-November to select the ten semifinalists, who will be announced on November 10th. A national body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, media representatives and previous Ray Guy Award winners will then vote for the top three finalists to be announced on November 22nd. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation’s top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN in December 2023.
