The Longhorns (35-18) continued their offensive barrage started in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader by scoring in each of the first four innings, and five of their six at-bats, on Saturday to finish off their penultimate weekend series of the regular season.

Campbell extended his record-setting hitting streak with a two-run home run in the first inning as one of his two hits in the game. Campbell has now recorded at least one hit in a team-record 30 straight games.

Guillemette had two doubles and four runs batted in to lead Texas’ 14-hit attack on Saturday. Campbell scored three runs and knocked in three, Peyton Powell had two hits and scored four times and Kennedy – who in Friday’s second game had grand slam and a three-run home run – added a two-run round-tripper on Saturday as part of his three-RBI showing.

Every Longhorns player scored at least one run and had at least one hit on Saturday, with Jared Thomas and Jalin Flores also recording two hits in the blowout win.

Tanner Witt (1-1) got his third start of the season (and his first at home) and earned the win, going the first three innings and surrendering three runs on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts. He was relieved by Travis Sthele, who hurled the final four frames and allowed three runs (two of them earned), four hits and three walks while fanning four to earn his first save of the year.

The Longhorns got on the board initially on Campbell’s first-inning home run. San Jose State answered with a three-run dinger by Nik Trapani to take a 3-2 lead in the second inning, but that only got Texas to focus more.

The Longhorns tied the game in the second on Flores’ RBI double and then took the lead for good on a sacrifice fly by Thomas. Texas added four runs in the third on a two-run single by Porter Brown and Kennedy’s two-run blast over the left-centerfield fence.

The Longhorns ripped off a seven-run fourth inning to put the game on ice. Campbell had a RBI single to start the onslaught, and Guillemette added a run-scoring double to make it 6-3. Campbell scored on a passed ball and Guillemette came across on a fielder’s choice grounder by Kennedy, who later scored on a wild pitch.

Flores singled to plate Tanner Carlson before Thomas singled to drive home Jack O’Dowd to push the Texas lead to 15-3. After the Spartans scored three runs in the sixth, Texas answered on Guillemette’s three-run double.
