Texas hosting five-star defender for an official visit this weekend

The Texas Longhorns will host Loganville (Ga.) Grayson linebacker and On3 Industry Ranking five-star Tyler Atkinson for an official visit, per Hayes Fawcett and Chad Simmons of On3.

“I am taking an official visit to Texas this weekend,” Atkinson told On3. “We have some good relationships out there, we know what Texas is about and we want to get back out there and ask a few more questions.”

Atkinson told Simmons that Steve Sarkisian has taken the lead in his recruitment, joining Johnny Nansen’s efforts.

Texas is battling Clemson, Oregon, and Georgia. Simmons reports that a decision should come before the start of his senior year.

Atkinson visited Texas for the Georgia game last season.

Atkinson is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect, the No. 1 linebacker, and the No. 1 player in Georgia in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. On3 ranks Atkinson as the No. 19 overall prospect, the No. 2 linebacker, and the No. 1 player in Georgia.
