No. 10 Texas came into Sanford Stadium with the full intention of not dropping its third consecutive battle with No. 5 Georgia in Athens. Kirby Smart‘s dogs had different thoughts after a disastrous fourth quarter from Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns on Saturday night. Here’s what the players had to say.

Arch Manning, QB

“You’ve gotta learn from it. Look in the mirror. How do you get better?” – on how the Longhorns move on from this loss

“Losing.” – on the most frustrating part of the loss

“We just didn’t really play well. I don’t think the road factor had anything to do with it.”

“(Georgia) played better than us in all three phases tonight.”

“Proud of the way the receivers battled back. Against teams like that, you can’t miss any throws. I’ve got to play well the whole game.”

Tre Wisner, RB

“Keep going.” – on keeping the Texas locker room engaged

“No. Definitely not. We’ve still got a great team and two tough games ahead of us. I feel like if we execute and pay attention to details at a high level, we’ll go take care of business in the future. Right now, we’ve just got to get ready to get back to work from this game.” – on if he thinks the playoff hopes are done

Colin Simmons, EDGE

“It’s very humbling, but we’ve got to get back to work at the end of the day. We can’t sulk on the past. Just move forward.”

“Like (Steve Sarkisian) said, (the fourth quarter) was a disaster. We didn’t finish. We didn’t finish in all three sides of the ball: offense, defense, and special teams.”

“I’ll give him his props, he’s a great player. He’s a hell of a player. He played hard, did what a quarterback was supposed to do, made plays, and hit his targets.” on Georgia QB Gunner Stockton

Michael Taaffe, S

“A little bit of miscommunication.” – on the touchdown pass to London Humphreys

“You have a two-game season from now on. They beat us. They kicked our butts in all three phases. And we handed it to them. Everything we did was in our control. We messed up a lot of stuff. You’ve got to look in the mirror first and realize what you could have done better.”
