A retired number is the highest honor for a former player. I just can't get behind retiring the number of a player who only played two seasons.

Seton Hall has only retired eight men's basketball numbers. Whitehead is nowhere near a top 10 player in program history. Here are just a few of those who would be in line ahead of him: Mark Bryant, Dan Callandrillo, John Morton, Nick Galis, Shaheen Holloway, Andre Barrett and Greg Tynes. Not saying all these guys should be retired, but they'd all be ahead of Whitehead in the pecking order.

whitehead was the best player in the country for over a month. what other shu player has done that?
Not sure if that’s really true. He was great for month, and certainly one of the best, but even so, a great month is far short of a jersey retirement. Ever hear of Dan Callandrillo? Nick Galis? Greg Tynes? Andre McCloud? Even Mel Knight and Ken House. Great careers are better than a great month, and none of their numbers are retired. It’s so ridiculous that it’s not even discussion worthy.

He was clearly hitting the bottle and talking stupid. It happens. We should all hope he didn't say anything as stupid to his wife the day before Valentine's Day.

I love Whitehead but if we're going to retire his number, we should also do Gerald Greene and Herb Pope.

Frankly, I think Seton Hall is out of the number retiring business.

I've pushed the Ring of Honor idea in the past.
