Rev share? isnt that the VAST majority of the $. Some may be rev produced by hoops, but that used to be revenue for the school to use as needed.Seton Hall itself doesn't fund much of this, the donors do.

And it didn't help to have so many teams around the .500 mark within the league or below. The league was awful in the non-conference. We all said it at the time. It was always going to have a ripple effect come selection Sunday, and it did. Our league champ wins the double, and gets a 5-seed with an opening game on the west coast. Yikes.
Also possible Darryn Peterson decides 20 min of play is enough for himIt sucks for SJU to go to San Diego but they have Northern Iowa first and then Kansas, which is not the worst draw in the world. If they win they get Duke but at least they'll take their shot in DC against them instead of playing Michigan in Chicago or Florida in Houston.
That seems like the wildcard if they meet up. Kansas is more talented and Peterson is probably the most dynamic talent in college, but he’s had such an odd year (apparently agent driven, although that is a rumor obviously). Also possible Darryn Peterson decides 20 min of play is enough for him
That goes without saying for that one player but that would be big moneyOr someone who could shoot the 3.
I think 5 was fair, but put them in a different region from UConn. To me it screams football money interference. They didn't want to risk the Big East getting 50% of the final four money, now it's guaranteed they can't.I understand the frustration about SJU, I don’t know who on the 4 line (AR, AL, KS, NE) you knock down. All four had more quad 1 wins and none of them had a Q3 loss that the Johnnies had (Providence at home).
The chairperson is the sun belt commish, stu jackson on committee, 1AD each from P4 many more persons from non P4 than P4, nopeI think 5 was fair, but put them in a different region from UConn. 100%. And that’s why now is the time for expansion. We need to get more teams in the tourney and take this kind of nonsense out of the committees hands.I think 5 was fair, but put them in a different region from UConn. So 2/11 is no good but x/more than 11 is good...make it make senseTime for expansion. We only have 2 sure fire tournament programs right now. I leave Villanova out because it’s not a guarantee right now without Wright.
100%

Uconn beat kansas, byu, illinois, mich st, fla and texas and lost to Zona, sju lost most of their big oocs? Sounds fair to meIf 5 is fair then UConn is way over seeded at 2. SJ won the BE & the BET & is being penalized for losing a few games back in Nov & Dec.
Stu Jackson again not helping the BE. Val should be removed she stinks and does not stick up for the BE publicly. The chairperson is the sun belt commish, stu jackson on committee, 1AD each from P4 many more persons from non P4 than P4, nope
What a load of crap. Seven of 11 teams finished at or below .500 overall with five teams sub .500. The league wasn't very good this year. The Big East Conference has become the Rodney Dangerfield of college basketball.
All expansion does is take money out of everyone's pocket. What schools are you adding that will force our media partners to throw more money at the Big East. I don't see any realistic options that move the needle.Time for expansion.
St. John's best OOC win was against Baylor who finished 15-16 and tied for 13th in the Big 12. They scheduled well but didn't win against their best opponents. And as we've seen the Big East was simply not that good.I understand the frustration about SJU, I don’t know who on the 4 line (AR, AL, KS, NE) you knock down. All four had more quad 1 wins and none of them had a Q3 loss that the Johnnies had (Providence at home).
The Big East was terrible this year. My Dangerfield reference was about putting St. John's and UConn in the same region. What a load of crap. Seven of 11 teams finished at or below .500 overall with five teams sub .500. The league wasn't very good this year.

How about the existing members up their games so that the BE gets more teams in.Having more programs means more teams capable of reaching the tournament. Which means the committee can’t manipulate the brackets and eliminate big east final four matchups…
Conference Matchup RulesSJU and UConn in the same region is a direct violation of the NCAA's bracketing principles. The first three teams selected from the same conference are to be placed in different regions. This is malpractice and an explanation needs to be provided.
I like Hurley’s 18 league game idea. What Michigan and Duke did playing a OOC game in February at a neutral site is something that probably benefited both in some way and is also great for the fan bases.
Conference Matchup Rules
The first four teams from any conference placed on the top four seed lines must be assigned to different regions (unless five or more teams appear on those seed lines).
Teams from the same conference:
Cannot meet before the regional final if they played three or more times during the regular season and conference tournament.
Cannot meet before the regional semifinal if they played twice.
May meet as early as the second round if they played once or not at all.
These restrictions may be relaxed if a conference has nine or more teams in the tournament.
Any principle may be relaxed if two or more of the conference’s teams are among the last four at-large teams in the First Four.
Top-seeded teams (first four lines) will not be placed where they would face a significant home-crowd disadvantage
You have an aged pdf RPI section is towards the end...it is not a criteriaGo to page 4: https://www.ncaa.com/sites/default/files/files/finalfourprinciples.pdf
"Each of the first three teams selected from a conference shall be placed in different regions." It has been this way for a while.
Then why is it on the NCAA website? You have an aged pdf RPI section is towards the end...it is not a criteria
Cause some intern from the end of one summer never finished their assignment and the web master has never paid attention to it.Then why is it on the NCAA website?
They don't meet before the regional finals. I don't understand why this is as big a deal as people want to make it.The Big East was terrible this year. My Dangerfield reference was about putting St. John's and UConn in the same region.
that was posted t8 explain the seedings. And uconn demolished sj far worse a couple of weeks ago fwiwBut that was 3-4 months ago. SJ clearly the better team heading into the tournament.
18 game sched good for the top teams. Heloscuconn abd sju, hurts most of us. no thanks Playing every team home and away is perfect for a conference.Yup. Good idea.
Well you had an 18 game natural round robin h and a then the big east caves and allowed a public state school back.18 game sched good for the top teams. Heloscuconn abd sju, hurts most of us. no thanks Playing every team home and away is perfect for a conference.
But thank god we let Uconn back in the door.Well you had an 18 game natural round robin h and a then the big east caves and allowed a public state school back.
I disagree with you there. Why can't it help us? If we had two more good Ws, we may have been dancing. And if you lose those types of games it really doesn't hurt you all that much.18 game sched good for the top teams. It could. Dont think it will. Cause we arent getting any big games, imo.I disagree with you there. Why can't it help us? If we had two more good Ws, we may have been dancing. And if you lose those types of games it really doesn't hurt you all that much.
It doesn’t need to be Michigan or Duke. Plenty of other high majors or even a consistently top school from the A-10 (like if Schertz is still at St Louis or Odom at VCU). I think there is possible value unless you tell me the Big East is going to get much better in the middle, which is possible. It could. Dont think it will. Cause we arent getting any big games, imo.
Imagine the BE this year if we didnt add uconn and if repole wanted to spend his money on modern art.
Oh, so it is our problem that we don't compete financially with the bullybullies from the Big 10, ACC, etc.Outside of UConn,SJU and Nova the BE is in trouble ie lack of NIL $$$.
