Hadn’t played in two weeks and Gold was beating him off the dribble.I know Payne played well but not sure why Hines only played 8 mins. 6pts, 2rebs, 2blocks, and didn’t miss a shot.
thought the same thing, but it's tough to sit a guy like Payne when he's cooking with all cylinders..... the original OR vacuumI know Payne played well but not sure why Hines only played 8 mins. 6pts, 2rebs, 2blocks, and didn’t miss a shot.
Still 8 mins is bizarre. He was super productive in those minsHadn’t played in two weeks and Gold was beating him off the dribble.
It really isn’t given the circumstances. He was having problems with Gold. Hard to argue with Sha given Paynes numbers.Still 8 mins is bizarre. He was super productive in those mins
Payne played well offensively, but struggled defensively. And you don’t want your starting center to play 30 plus minsIt really isn’t given the circumstances. He was having problems with Gold. Hard to argue with Sha given Paynes numbers.
I think you keep missing the point that Hines had been out coming off a layoff and a concussion.Payne played well offensively, but struggled defensively. And you don’t want your starting center to play 30 plus mins

It’s really not that complicated Sha will not play anyone who doesn’t practiceA layoff? He missed 2 games. He can’t play 15 mins?

for Payne’s 2 great games? You need to play Hines, especially if you want to keep him for next yearPayne deserves 30 minutes a game the way he has played. Hines will need to come off the bench as a 10 to 15 minute player at this point.
You should absolutely play a young man who has recently been concussed and has a couple of nagging injuries 20 or more minutes a night -- even on a night his counterpart is clearly outplaying him.for Payne’s 2 great games? You need to play Hines, especially if you want to keep him for next year
Hines had 6pts, 2rebs, 2blocks in 8mins. Also, didn’t miss a shot from the field or a ft. So no Payne wasn’t clearly outplaying him.You should absolutely play a young man who has recently been concussed and has a couple of nagging injuries 20 or more minutes a night -- even on a night his counterpart is clearly outplaying him.
Not for nothing, but the other guy had the most rebounds by a SHU player in a win since 1977!Hines had 6pts, 2rebs, 2blocks in 8mins. Also, didn’t miss a shot from the field or a ft. So no Payne wasn’t clearly outplaying him.
Hines is also better than Payne. Which is saying something considering how well Payne has been playing. Hines needs to play (a lot) for us to be the best version of ourselves, but Payne has 100% earned his place. A 50/50 platoon is probably the right move with these guys.I would rather Payne play less than that. I really believe our fans don't understand how physically exhausting it is for bigs to play at this level.
Plus we badly need Hines back next season and his playing 10 minutes or so a game will cause a problem.
Keep it close to 50/50 with whichever center is playing better getting the majority of the minutes.
