Why would he stay in an offensive system with no other shooters and slow pace?

Having a point guard to set Coleman up would have helped him immensely.
He was plenty productive last year until Jenkins (and Dylan) went down and stripped the offense bare.
He averaged over 21 a game in the six full BE games before Jenkins was injured. Over 20 BE games he averaged 17.4 per even with a couple of atrocious nights.
That said we were never going to pay him close to market value.

lol, it’s insane how badly basketball players lie about their height. Now it’s because they get “measured in their shoes”. I guess they wear heels.
The teams exaggerate their height usually when they publish their roster - it's not the players.

IC did a bunch of things last season that drove me nuts. Little things and I attributed them to lack of focus
Along with a very good offensive game Zay had the physical skills to be an elite defender. Unfortunately he was very inconsistent on both ends. We never knew what version of Zay we were gonna get, yet he was still one of the better players in the league.
I am not sure we could offer him enough money to return. I think he had lost focus as he did not like the style of play or the way Sha ran the team. I think he and his family thought a change of scenery would be beneficial. Always like IC, i hope he has a great season similar to Khadary last year.
No problem with Coleman looking for more $$$. What boggles my mind are a few posters saying they didn’t want him back, he wasn’t a good player, he was inconsistent or lacked focus, was just chucking shots,etc, etc, etc. He was a second year player with upside being asked to carry a lousy team.
The question was asking price. Word leaked from decent sources that he wanted $1.5M. There was no way in hell the Pirates had that money to give when the ask was made.

I look at this from both sides.
I can see the real concerns about asking price and the ability/want to pay.
At the same time sometimes you might have to overpay to keep a talent to show that you're serious about trying to compete.
Let's see him avg shooting percentage of 50 40 80 and see what he does against Iowa state before some here want to build him a statue

It probably did but If you throw someone a lot of money to stay and be the number one option…
His asking price was one he knew would never be matched and he settled for a lot less after he left. He wanted out after last season when by midseason he started to play selfishly and not for the team.
Hunted points and played no defense. You do not award a 6-3 wing with $1.5M for that.
I have no ill will towards him but I'm not rooting for him like I did for Richmond and Davis as I did last season.
