After this beatdown, three days off, have to go win @ Marquette. No reason not to sweep the worst team in the BE.

I know it’s only Dec, but this feels like a must win if we want to play in March.

Long way to go. Just get to 11-9 and see what happens. But yeah, avoiding bad losses is key.

Next 3 games are at Marquette, Creighton, at Georgetown. Creighton just demolished two bad BE teams so their numbers are on the rise.

So, if you are looking at a Tournament chance, they do need it. If they play in future games like they did last night they will have no chance. That's what I meant. I thought we would split with Nova this season. Tough for The Hall to win in Philly. I believe UConn is an extremely difficult matchup too. To be n the Tournament Seton Hall may need to sweep several teams. Still too early to say.

A road game against a top 150 team is not a must win in our present circumstances. We've compiled enough of a resume to let another one slip. But this is the type of game that a good team wins.
We have a bottom 50 strength of schedule with what will likely be one q1 non conference win. It’s a must win for a team playing with March aspirations

It's a bottom 50 SOS today (and an embarrassing NC schedule from my point of view), but it won't be a bottom 50 SOS in March. Which is when they pick the tournament. The bubble is terrible just about every year these days. If we have 11 wins (however we accumulate them) without home losses to Depaul, Georgetown, and Marquette we should be fine.

If we have a bottom 50 OOC SOS now, there's nothing we can do to improve that and that will be an albatross we'll have to carry.

Likely having two Q1 OOC wins (NC State, Kansas State) does mitigate that somewhat.

Beyond that, we need to stack a many BE wins as we can. It would be nice to go to Marquette and cash one in. Their NET is 180 and all of their wins are Q4. A loss there would undo a good bit of work.

The post I replied to said we have a bottom 50 strength of schedule, as in overall strength of schedule. That is the number that will improve as we traverse BE play.

That number should improve even in a year where the BE presently has five team with NET rankings of 100 or higher. Fortunately, Marquette is the worst at 180.

The thing is, non-con SOS is a thing as well. You are judged by the opposition you choose to play. I'm not suggesting we should have scheduled Duke, Kentucky and Kansas but we are fortunate that we took advantage of the few legitimate opportunities we gave ourselves to build a resume.

10-10 BE we’re NIT bound.
11-9 BE depending who we beat and no bad losses were in the conversation for NCAAT
12-8 BE means we picked up some Q1/2 wins to go along with 2 Q1 OOC wins. SHU IS IN.

11 wins in the BE is not going to get us in. Only if we win the BE tournament. I'm not even thinking 12 wins will do it. Not with how bad the BE is this year.
Depends who we beat. Stacking wins against the dregs to get 11 or 12 and we’ll be in the NIT.

We have to win at least 1 game against St Johns and UConn and win at Nova to be somewhat comfortable.

We really cannot afford to lose this one. You know that we will blow one against a team that we are favored to win & the odds of taking down a top team are not too good. If the tourney is the goal, then this is a must win.

To early to think about scenarios. Take each game as it comes. We need to bank Ws, get/remain healthy and get better at our weaknesses.

The league did so poorly in the OOC there are a lot of games that really can only hurt our resume. Right now there are 5 Big East Teams with a 100 or worse NET. That is beyond terrible.

For us, our OOC SOS wasn't good but we avoided bad losses and came away with 2 good Resume Wins. Right now our Resume would put us in the Tournament but we need to have a strong BE season to leave no doubt. For the first time I can remember in the history of the league, there are more pitfalls than opportunities on the schedule.

Class of the League - UConn (8)
Potential NCAA Teams - Nova (20), St.Johns (30) Butler (42) SH (44) Creighton (58)
Talented but don't Defend - Providence (100)
Inconsistent but Capable - Xavier (121) GTown (140)
Terrible - DePaul (153) Marquette (180)

Gotta beat ghe teams below us and at least split w the uconns, novas, butlers, st johns
That’s asking a lot…especially for a team where expectations were to be at the very bottom of the conference.

It will be very difficult to even get 2 wins from the UConn, St. John’s, Nova contingent, and to get 3 adding in Creighton.

could we get 4 or 5 out of these 8 games? Of course it’s possible, but if we did I’d be ecstatic.
Let’s see how the next week or two plays out…then maybe re evaluate, either way.
