I feel like Cambell is basically James FranklinHe has been there since the 2016 season and has had a few opportunities to leave. I am not sure how good those opportunities have been in terms of a top ten job like ours. I am encouraged that he is from Ohio and he seems to bring an element of toughness and grit that I think we have lacked under Franklin.
It could take a lot to pry him out of Ames. He and his family are settled there and the school likes him as evidenced by the recent contract extension. He has security in Ames.
I agree that he would be a good hire. My concern and admittedly I have not researched this aspect but how successful has he been developing QBs and a good or innovative offense? That is a kind of difficult to assess because he has lacked the talent that we have had. Also wondering how strong of a recruiter he is although that facet has changed with the NIL era. However, as a new coach in a new area of the country you will need to sell yourself, your vision, the university, the program, etc.
