Rangers elephant in the room, they allow opposing defenseman to generate speed through the neutral zone unchecked.
They constantly reverse the puck in their defensive zone leading to turnovers and getting trapped in their own end.
The personnel changes but the song remains the same.
The Rangers will have three world class players on the ice at one time and a damn good player in Trochek, yet I’m betting the trend continues.

Lots of good players get be picked late 1st and early 2nd rounds
Yes of course, even some free agents will shock now and again. Just read my list of pending high priced players. I even left off Hamilton and Mercer. Who knows when the cap goes up and by how much.

Now I am a big draft fan, I don't like giving up picks normally. That said, we kept important prospects. Oh and don't discount the Devils recouping a 1st round pick or more even, if extensions don't work out. It is a nice place to be.

Rangers App has Kane out of the lineup and scratched tonight.
They are often wrong, we shall see

The Rangers have certainly amassed talent. It remains to be seen whether we can apply the right coaching techniques to maximize the talent we have.

One would think they would value defensemen who can move the puck out of the defensive zone, but just the opposite.

Lol-
Pretty simple analogy, when all is said and done it’s what it amounts to.
Kakko protecting the puck but doing 360s in the same spot (give him some credit for keeping it) doesn’t free anyone up or do much to create opportunities.
You’ve got to be skating to open ice or attempting to get away from the walls.
He reminds of Paul being forced to the baseline with no where to go and no one to pass to😊
Paul doesn't need to be forced. He likes to go there all by himself & get trapped.

They think he is too small and not physical enough. They can’t wrap their head around the idea that if a guy is good at getting the puck out of the defensive zone, there is less need for him to be big and physical.
There’s no one in the lineup you can remove to play Jones over Krup.
The new guy from St Louis is a big body who can skate.

I really think it’s system and coaching philosophy related.
The system does not value relentless puck pressure and is hung up on breaking out in 5 man units.
IMO…it explains why during an opponent’s change and free ice to take…we reverse, sit behind the net let the opponent set up its forecheck instead of taking advantage of the open ice.
Gotta circle back and come out all together like the Russians of 1980

I like what I see from Mikkola so far, but Jones absolutely should have been playing over Harpur.

Jones’ numbers paired with Schneider in a small sample size were much better than Harpur’s. Schneider’s biggest weakness noted since predraft was handling the puck and getting it out of the zone. He doesn’t need to be paired with a big physical guy like himself, he needs to be paired with a puck mover like Lindgren is with Fox and Trouba is with Miller.

Mikkola appears to move pretty well for a big guy, so hopefully that works.

I think this is part of the reason the West is so weak, their teams are run by morons:

All this does is allow the Wings to stock up their prospect pool, the Islanders #1 is going to be around #20 and on top of that it's a deep draft.

Horrible trade. Vancouver also threw in their 2nd rounder, which will be in the high 30’s.

CAR gets the Ghost, OTT gets Chychrun.

It is obvious that Bedard is going to end up in CBJ or MTL because the East isn’t strong enough.

Bing…Bang…Boom (for the 3rd goal) and it’s 3-0 Devils over the Avalanche late in the 1st.

Great character win against the Champs on the road. Back to back 7 goal performances, this one with Hughes having a quiet game.

I ask, why not us. Why not the NJD after 20 years.

Early on it looked like they were skating on the big ice by the way they were flying around.

All in all the Avs had plenty of things go their way. From Timo Meier not playing, to Jack Hughes showing he is "mortal" 😆.

Akira Scmid brings a samurai " calm" spirit to goaltending.

Starting to look like the long expected Devils-Rangers first round series might not happen (I think the Devils can catch CAR).

If so, they probably wouldn’t meet unless they both made it to the conference final.

Good. My nerves are usually shot by Game 3 of a Devils-Rangers series.
