Puli played out the rest of the half but then couldn’t go in the second half. Your indiscriminately punitive approach would have had him ejected from the game immediately.Nope. Half the time they don’t even grab the same body part that supposedly had the contact. When was the last time a player was too injured to continue ? How about never. I can’t even remember anyone even limping.
If you’re writhing in pain, you are out…for your own well being (ha ha ha)
I‘ve been injured in some pretty serious ways and played out games after a few minutes to recover a bit. Broken bones, torn muscles and ligaments.
One of my kids tore his PCL in a game in a collision with the goal keeper and a goal post. He actually played another 5 minutes or so before it became clear he couldn’t keep going and was seriously injured.
I coached a girl who broke her ankle in a game and nobody knew it until after the game. She had gone down after some minor contact but got herself up and said she was fine. She played great and didn’t say a word not exhibited anything about it until after the game.
I’m telling you from direct experience as both a long time player and coach that this stuff is not very easily determined in many cases that occur regularly in games.
