Yeah the lawsuit by a former staffer was frivolous. Guys name was Curtis Blackwell. I’ll try to make this short…

Curtis is from Detroit and founded a football camp called sound mind sound body. Dantonio hired him as a recruiting coordinator. In 2016 several MSU players were accused of sexual assault. A couple of them were from Detroit and knew Blackwell their entire lives. The players I assume in a panic called Blackwell.

This is where it gets murky. I’ll fast forward…MSU hires outside law firm to review their conduct over handling this. Everyone was in the clear…except Curtis Blackwell. The law firm concluded he failed in his mandatory reporting duties. He gets placed on leave and subsequently terminated.

He then lawyers up and claims he was scapegoated by MSU and that Dantonio was the culprit. The problem was he was arguing against the law firms conclusion, not the university. Judge ends up dismissing his lawsuit for wrongful termination and whatever lawsuit he had against Dantonio.

During all of this, Dantonio was advised to not make public comments while litigation was ongoing.

Hope this helps give context.

Thanks for the context. Never understood Dantonio's abrupt resignation. I looked around a bit and saw Blackwell had filed three(?) lawsuits against MSU, but it appears they were all dismissed/terminated. Shame of it is, some people will latch onto the lawsuits and think MSU or Dantonio did something wrong in that instance, when it was the plaintiff probably trying to cover himself or get something for himself. Also dislike when some will take "sworn" testimony in a case like this and then use it against another party because the testimony was under oath. Big deal-newsflash- lying scumbags lie under oath frequently.

Will be interesting to see how the team does under Dantonio. He was a solid coach. Just hope the Spartans do poorly at the Rutgers homecoming game.

Not to cast aspersions on MSU, but our local press loves to make mountains out of molehills whenever there is a small misdeed at Rutgers. The worst thing that happened was the Mike Rice incident, which was bad. Thankfully, we have stayed out of the bad press column for quite a while.

Low IQ

Low IQ guy so they figured (correctly) that he could be baited with some P. I suspect this was a set up to get rid of him & the dumb f**k took the bait.
But I think they would have had to pay the woman a truckload of money to co-operate in order for her to risk her reputation and livelihood.

well if you're into that type thing, why not share it with others.
But make sure what you share is wanted.
I didn't click the link.,but that's just me and won't knock you for sharing what pleases you.

Tucker shared and the person he shared something with wasn't pleased at all 😡

It's interesting, we have Mel Tucker, we have Ped State, we have Baylor, we have Nassar, we have sex abuse scandals at Ohio State and Michigan...but that's what he reaches for.

Though to be fair, the biggest global sex scandal in world history does involve men in a dress. But they're not at brunch on Sundays, they're in front of pews.

Certainly sounds like MSU is trying to get out of the contract. He didn't do anything that rises to the level of contract termination. Creepy, maybe but people don't get fired for being creepy.

How much he gets in a settlement will all depend on if he knows where the bodies are buried.

Disagree. We will see who’s right. Nasser committed sexual crimes and the university was aware of complaints. This is different.

I have no doubt he wont return. Untenable. But I think it goes to court and they will end up paying most or all of the contract balance.

Maybe MSU has him by the short hairs via using university phone…but I still don’t think that’s enough for ‘for cause’

We said we would find out … I read everything you wrote in this thread. There was no chance he was going to get paid ..

sexual harassment is a fired for cause reason.
Unless you feel unwanted sexual comments and masturbating while
making those comments is a normal everyday phone conversation.

Add in he’s married and she is a university vendor.

And now they realize their October ‘due process hearing’ isn’t helpful to their goal. So far, I still think he has a lot of money coming his way.

I think she trapped him. I bet she recorded the conversation. A normal response would have been to say "Knock it off, I don't feel the same way", hang up and not report it. It sounded like the two hit it off right away, it wasn't like they were strangers. But he should have know better.

They do if they're making almost 10 million a year and they aren't winning. If MSU is in the playoff, this gets swept under the rug.

I never did buy the ‘moral turpitude’ for cause angle they are hoping sticks . Private relationships are just that, so long as no laws are broken.

The Title IX stuff may have legs, depending on if the evidence shows she didn’t consent. I still have a hard time believing a phone call can be considered non-consensual, but I’ll leave that to the psychologists to argue.

With what we know, I still believe he gets paid.

The short term part of my brain is still thinking about whether this year's roster will be gutted by players that enter the portal and won't play anymore this year to save eligibility.

Greg didn’t want Wiggenton and he hasn’t played much at MSU. I’m curious if he’d have interest in VDM, Greg 1.0 would have held a grudge. I’m hoping 2.0 is interested given our OL needs
If Flaherty wants him (GVDM), Greg would take him. I know Flaherty has worked with him in the past at SJR camps.

I'm naive on the transfer portal rules, and in particular in this situation. If they elected to transfer, they would sit the rest of this year and save this year as a year of eligibility, correct? And it does not matter that they also (in one case) have a free covid year?

I am just as naive as you. I assume he has 3 years remaining. Not sure he gets the COVID year since I think his freshman year was 2021-2022.

Yes. The Covid condition would be uneffected in this case, I believe.

Elko and Leipold still possible for now.

Are there odds on who would move over to that insane asylum?

I'm betting Leipold is a hard pass on Michigan State, unless that puts him closer to home? He does not seem like the kind of guy who would jump jobs for more money. He also has the full backing of Kansas U and has things rolling there.

Elko-guessing no on him too.

Dantonio is 67 , but might be drafted to take over if Barnett doesn't work out.
He's a longshot, but I wouldn't count him out and he would be the bridge back to glory days

In his 13 seasons as MSU's HC Dantonio was 114-57

I really don’t think so. Him being there hasn’t made much difference so far.

I think Elko and Leipold are always possible. Elko was at ND for a year only and jumped to A&M for more money and opportunity. It’s plausible he’d do the same for MSU. It’s a good job despite the off the field stuff.
