I know it s most likely just media trying to generate news but been hearing more and more that Detroit may be open to trading Skubal. He has 1 more year of control.
What would you be willing to trade for him?

for Skubal- I only have 1 untouchable- McLean

So- let’s say Skubal is on the table for 1 year- who do we offer and how crazy is it that we could possibly put together tge best package???

McKean is my only untouchable- so - Jett, Tong, Sproat?

Skubal/McLean at the top of the rotation- insane and takes pressure off tge other guys

f-ing just sign Alonso or give up next year too

Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto will be posting. Corner infielder. Right handed bat.

I have wonderful news for all you Richard Lovelady fans out there! Especially if you are among his close friends who call him Dicky.

Lovelady signed a one year major league contract with the Mets. He will be on the off-season 40 man roster and presumably will get guaranteed money.

I wish I were left-handed. And young. And talented. 0 for 3.

Saddened to hear that Ryan Helsley and David Peterson were not arrested today as part of the FBI sting given their end of season performances ! 😂

Yeah, if they had been throwing games, that would have provided a logical explanation for their performances.

John Heyman reporting the Yankees are very interesting in Pete Alonso. That would be crushing. If Pete moves on, I'd love it to be anywhere else, far far away.

This could just be agent rumors to get the bidding war going and raise the price for the Mets

Also rumors Mets are interested in trading for Yandy Diaz. Could both be just trying to make the other blink.

This we know: John Heyman is a professional reporter who doesn't make **** up. If he is reporting it he got it from somewhere - either from the Yankees, or from Scott Boras. I'm guessing Door #2.

Former Mets in WS:

Blue Jays have 3 - Max Scherzer, Chris Bassett, Andres Gimenez.

Dodgers have 1 - Anthony Banda. Not included is Michael Conforto, who has been a healthy scratch for the entire postseason.

Heyman is a big time shill for the Yankees.

Can certainly see Yankees interested in him however I doubt it.

Judge will eventually move to 1b making Alonso a full time DH and with Stanton there for the time being ….

If the Yankees do have serious interest in Alonso, which would not surprise me, I doubt they'd choose to broadcast it through Heyman or anyone else. Boras on the other hand...

I think Judge is a good enough athlete that he could stay in RF for a few more years.

Found oldie but goodie

Being a #Mets fan is like doing something that makes you most happy in the world...

I am sure both the Yanks and Phil’s will bid on Pete. Perfect fit for either team. And for Pete, he would stay relevant.
but let’s say he goes to a team like SF, he will just fade away.,.
I think his price tag does go up but not sure of the years. But I still feel about 75% that he is a career Met.

Now, how do we get Skubal. For the first time in decades, we have the farm system to do it. McLean is the only player we can’t trade. Benge May be untouchable too but he may have to be moved for a guy like Skubal

Snitker's title is hitting coach, but that is a misnomer. He's essentially Jeff Albert's assistant. Got to be better that last year, when you had two coequal hitting coaches potentially sending different messages.

The Athletic (paywall) just released the results of a Mets fan survey. About 25 questions and responses. I have linked the article for those who subscribe, and have provided three questions which I found of particular interest.

1) HOW CONFIDENT ARE YOU THAT THE METS ARE HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION?

RESPONSE%
Extremely confident11
Confident33
Somewhat confident45
Not confident at all11

COMMENT: This is a decline from last year when the majority was confident, at minimum. Not surprising in light of 2025 results.

2) WHAT WOULD MAKE THE 2026 SEASON A SUCCESS?

RESPONSE%
Winning the World Series14
Winning the pennant26
Advancing to the NLCS25
Advancing to the NLDS7
A division title14
A postseason berth14

COMMENT: 65% (almost two-thirds) believe that anything less than the final four is failure. In other words, to at least accomplish what was accomplished in 2024. That is where the bar is set.

3) WHAT SHOULD BE THE METS #1 PRIORITY THIS OFFSEASON?

RESPONSE%
Acquiring a top of the rotation starter55
Retaining Edwin Diaz21
Retaining Pete Alonso16
Acquiring a two-way center fielder7

COMMENT: This is not to say that the fans want to cut Diaz and Alonso loose. They don't. But the consensus priority is a frontline arm.

Thoughts?

The Padres most glaring weakness in their lineup is 1B/DH. Alonso is such an obvious target. Pods will lose a lot of people to free agency (Arraez, Suarez, Cease, King). The only one I'd like to see them bring back from this group would be King #1 and Cease as a second option. Miller takes over as closer.
I hope they go into the bidding for Alonso.

I think more teams than expected will at least make an offer to Pete. Do they offer the number he wants? Who knows.
King is a guy that should cash in, would love to see the Mets go after him.
Arraez must be a frustrating player on a team. Guy can put the bat on the ball but it is so strange that for as many hits he gets each year, guy never scores much at all. No power, speed

Plus Arraez plays first where you need a power bat

He is just a weird player...never strikes out but never walks...gets 180-200+ hits every year but will score only 60-80 runs, no power at all and yet, no speed either. But you would think with all of his hits and having some big bats in the lineup with him, he would be scoring 90-100 runs every year.

When he gets on base you need two hits to score him.

Thankfully that vast baseball wasteland known as October is now over. Just one more day, and we Met fans can begin to dream again. Fire up that Hot Stove! Here are some key dates:

NOVEMBER 2, 9:00 AM:
  • MLB trading window reopens.
  • Free agency quiet period begins. Free agents can negotiate with any team, but can only sign with their current team. You may recall that in 2022, the Mets re-signed Edwin Diaz during the quiet period.
NOVEMBER 6, 5:00 PM:
  • Free agency quiet period ends. The bazaar is now open for business.
  • Deadline for players to exercise opt-outs. Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso will, unless the Mets reach an extension agreement with Diaz beforehand. AJ Minter and Frankie Montas won't.
  • Deadline for clubs to exercise club options on players. Mets will surely exercise their option on Brooks Raley. Not sure about Drew Smith.
  • Deadline for clubs to make qualifying offers on their free agents. The only Met who will get one is Diaz, if he opts out. Alonso is ineligible for one, which works to his advantage.
NOVEMBER 18:
  • Deadline for players to accept qualifying offers. This is a non-issue for the Mets. No chance that Diaz accepts the QO.
  • Deadline for teams to finalize their 40 man rosters in advance of the Rule 5 draft. Mets will probably go below 40 to allow for future additions. Expect some of the interchangeable relievers to go.
NOVEMBER 21: Deadline for teams to make tender offers to all arbitration and pre-arbitration players. Those who do not receive offers become free agents. Expect a few non-tenders. Most of the pruning will likely be done by November 18.

DECEMBER 9: MLB Draft Lottery. Don't hold your breath on this one. Mets have only about a 3% chance to get into the top 6. If they don't, they will probably pick 17th, which will be dinged 10 spots to 27th because of their spending.

DECEMBER 10: Rule 5 Draft.

DECEMBER 15: 2025 International Signing Window closes. This will likely be a non-event.

JANUARY 8: Players and teams exchange arbitration figures. In almost all cases, this will lead to negotiations where they meet in the middle. Very few cases actually go to arbitration.

JANUARY 15: 2026 International Signing Window opens. This will NOT be a non-event.

FEBRUARY 10 (approx.) Pitchers and catchers report! It will be here before we know it.
