It's all of the above BUT I also think there's truth what Sha is saying about the players. IDK if it's people in their ears, but they're playing more alone. If you watch back the better offensive games and what we're doing now in terms of motion and flow, it's night and day. The movement and passing looks totally lost and guys are trying to score quicker. That happens with teams in slumps, teams where defenses play them differently, and players get frustrated.
They're all pressing. What we're watching is way more than even a regression, IMO. And he doesn't strike me as the best coach to have when you're slumping.
I believe Sha has a huge part in this but agree with players. They seem very arrogant and entitled by how since conference play they have already been going in double digits and getting lucky to finish games.
I actually thought earlier in non con the offense as fluid guys seemed to be team first and high IQ guys. Other than Clark and Rivera the guys are very arrogant and don't play with conviction. This has always been our offense even with Willard but even in Powell teams where it was him choking guys bought in and accepted their roles.
Or the 2024 team
NC State is a good win. Not as great as many thought at the time, but still a good win. After that? Creighton at home and K-State on the road. Not going to move the needle much there.
The bigger looming problem (aside from the decline in quality of play) is the Big East is so weak this year. It doesn't present many opportunities for quality wins. If you're generous in what is considered a quality win, there are only five more chances. Four of them are on the road. Long odds. In my view, Seton Hall has to get to at least 12-8 in conference play to even have a chance at a bid. Probably 13-7 or better to get in. I don't see that happening. I think 8-12 is the floor and 11-9 is the ceiling. If I had to say right now, I'd say they end up at 9-11.
NC State is solid seeing they beat 18 ranked Clemson this past week. Outside it's a laughable non con, that I feel Shaheen purposely scheduled again to make team falsely look good. What you said starting to make me more miserable and depressed seeing how we have really low margins of error now. This four game slide isn inexcusable and erases most of the great start cause it shows they benefitted from easy schedule and this team just screams bad toxicity that has now unleashed.
The team has to beat 2 of UCONN, St John, and Nova along with beating the teams they should beat. One win against UCONN can count as two but even then that's not easy to say considering you need more quality wins why given year.
The team probably has to make BE championship and even win at this point which is ridiculously difficult and toll for a team that is playing above its weight. This is all on Sha and players for putting themselves and embarrassing themselves in this situation.
I'm already irate and frustrated, but I guess I can take another bubble year and miss cause we failed, but I hope it's trying. This team need to sweep the guys they already beat and need to get those wins against the top teams in the conference. Also shouldn't be an impossible task to sweep jokes like Butler and Depaul. IDC they are jokes to what we aspire and have shown to be earlier in the year.
If they actually beat teams they should beat, you can get 6-8 wins. I will be fair and not put crazy pressure, knowing Creighton even on a. down year is always a tough task and think it is hard to expect a sweep on them, but Marquette, Georgetown, and Providence are teams we should beat.
Also knowing how he choked against that fake soulless St Johns, we should beat them considring that is last game of the season and Senior night. If they can actually beat St Johns or Nova you can two more rallying up to potential 23-25 wins. That is not easy to do, but if these guys think they were a ranked team they better play and they can probably pull something like 20-22 wins.
I'm not the best expert with how teams can get in, but they need to treat the season now like December football. You have to treat every game as a must win and they have to make the necessary adjustments to win.
