1 - Not that it matters at this point, but I’ll puke if the starting lineup doesn’t change

2 - Looks like we’ll have 12 new players again next year.

3 - Hines barely playing is unacceptable. That said, he’s not exactly doing anything remotely good. More on that to come.

4 - I still think Shaheen is a good head coach. I find him similar to Brian Daboll. Both are able to relate to players and are able to command the room. Where they fall short is putting together absolutely abominable coaching staffs. There’s no reason for Hines to have no improvement, no reason to have not found a steady shooting threat. These guys aren’t able to coach at its simplest form.

5 - We one again have no go to guy. You need to have a leader out there who can take heat off in rough times. Clark is not that guy, he is beyond limited on offense. How often do we go down the court and see the same guy get to shoot 2 or 3 times in a row? Never

6 - It was a fun couple of weeks.

Lol, you can tell by the responses that Pirate Nation need like an hour to grasp what they just watched.

The Knicks won. Guys that make money but want to win. Our guys who think they'll make more money elsewhere when they lose to DePaul and Butler are clueless.

It’s not that shocking.

we played bad AT Prov, AT Marq, and AT Gtown. We were just able to crawl ourselves out of a hole.

Depaul is better than all of those team listed above. Fans don’t want to hear it but it’s a let down spot after the st johns game.

Good news is we have the two worst be teams at home. Can’t lose either.

1. No new starting lineup will change this offense. Maybe rivera over fisher as fisher is undersized. Maybe hines/payme combo on a bigger team. The guards just dont get it done no matter whos in

2. How can hines do anything on offense if he doesnt get any touches?

3. The guards run everything in this offense. Budd had to say u guys suck, im taking over in the first half. Why no touches to hines. Why no inside/outside plays to at least see what iso in the post can do or get shooters more room.

I still dont know wtf the weave does

The weave is designed in its simplest form to keep the defense moving. If you are playing man to man and everybody on offense is moving from one side of the court to the other it stands to reason that the defense will move with them.

The idea is that the more the defense moves the more likely it is a player will end up out of position and give the offense an advantage.

But when you do it constantly it doesn’t work …

We are running the same offense with the same players. Why did it function somewhat competently for 12 games and now it is a complete disaster? It’s not simply a function of the competition because Georgetown, Providence, Marquette and DePaul all suck.

Uh, Wagner, St Peter’s, Monmouth, etc are all much much worse than anything in the big east. It is that simple

I miss a lot of the start of games, but I am disgusted Sha hasn't even made one change. For me it really makes me start to trash Shaheen because it's showing a coach who seems over in his head and simply doesn't have it. You have to adjust after a while. The fact this team still went down double digits to this trash Depaul team. Shaheen will ruin all the good to start the year if we end terribly. Like I will still be irate if we miss the tourney this year even if it was always a pathetic joke now considering how we played, but I can at least respect a fight where we get 20-22 wins and can get some wins the BE tournament but fall short.

But as I said before, I also don't want to be a hypocrite and blame Sha on everything. I am starting tor rally judge these players look arrogant and entitled. The fact they allow this embracing double digit losses even when they win shows me they think they are above any critics or change.

I feel it's obvious to literally sub this scrub Fischer off. This guy makes Tyrese Samuel look like Embiid. This guy does not do anything impressive outside one game I can't remember but that's how mid he is. It's obvious get the better team and energy player in Rivera, who is one of the best hustle players I've seen in a while maybe since Shavar. Energy guys with hustle always helps with winning and it's a talent. The guy can shoot as well.

TBH I feel that is arguably a good single change. I think the other issue is we have bene turning the ball over and have been terrible in rebounding. The past four games, the offensive rebounding from other teams have gotten me so angry. Willard teams always have been frustrating too, which is why I am pissed watching Sha teams as well, but I never saw teams get out hustled this pathetically.

That's why even withs someone like Rivera I see him allowing these frustrating second chance points. IDK if you can fix that, but Shaheen has to point this out and those guys have to figure out to box out better especially these bigs.

The other issue that is honestly hard to fix is fact we are relying on this short PG Clark. I think Clark has been good though frustrating, but even if you think or don't think he is the team's best player, he is arguably most important cause he can playmaker but he is like only playmaker.

That's why it's frustrating to think it's hard to fix, but if Sha is the coach he has been hyped he should find ways to get the offense moving.

Parker has been okay, but tbh he is a for awful ball handler and I don't think he deserves the minutes he has been getting. I think Sha has to trust Simpkins and Williams more with the ball. TBH they had the ball more earlier in the year and were delivering. The team literally played super ISO with Powell in 2018-2020. I feel when Clark is out just trust SImpkins and Williams to create and attack, thought I know the team goes on bad stretches when Clark is out.

So again it falls on Sha to create an offense that compliments his best players. The other popular point too to feed Hines in the post. The offense for some reason has turned worse than any Willard run offense. I just don't see any organization which is my issue and frustration.

A number of things, IMO. Regression to the mean (107 offense, which isn't great to begin with, is still far above Holloway's historical average), more scouting/tape available, and the familiarity that conference teams/coaches have with the program and style.

I don’t picture Sha being a good one and done coach and unfortunately that’s the game today. Give him guys for 3 or 4 years and he could compete with any one in the country. At some point it’s adapt or people will be calling for a new coach. Now we’re at a crossroads. We’re staring at 4 years no NCAAs. You can’t put this new philosophy in and say we’re going all in on young guys next year and we will be good in 3 years. He has to figure out this one and done era. The system sucks and as much as I think most people hate it, we’d all take 2.5 mil a year to coach in it. And if you’re coaching in it, you gotta win.

Hines definitely needs to touch the ball more.

Willard exposed us. We were never the same, even though we pulled some rabbits out of the hat. We all knew going down 15 every game was unsustainable. After Nova we had what Wall Street calls “a dead cat bounce.” We’re good enough to win a few more games if we stop playing scared and frantic. However, we’re a lower half BE team that can surprise someone if we can score a bit. That’s who we always were, and to Sha’s credit we overachieved, for a while but we lacked the offensive talent to consistently compete with teams that can hit an open 3.

You are not going to win many games with these numbers. FG 38%, 3FG 29% and FT 59% .

Did we overachieve or did we beat some really bad teams. 4 wins in the big east. 3 of them are against the 9th place team, 10th place team, and 11th place team. 3 out of conference wins vs p5 schools. One of them against a team that is .500 and tied for last in the big 12 another against a team under .500 on the season and close to the bottom in the big 10.

It's all of the above BUT I also think there's truth what Sha is saying about the players. IDK if it's people in their ears, but they're playing more alone. If you watch back the better offensive games and what we're doing now in terms of motion and flow, it's night and day. The movement and passing looks totally lost and guys are trying to score quicker. That happens with teams in slumps, teams where defenses play them differently, and players get frustrated.

They're all pressing. What we're watching is way more than even a regression, IMO. And he doesn't strike me as the best coach to have when you're slumping.
