I feel like this thread is the perfect example that the bar has been raised. Bowl team is not enough. Especially being in the B1G East.
Should he give money back for not being the lowest paid in the league when he finished last in the league?Yes, when you are the lowest paid. He should be rewarded by not being paid the lowest in the league
Yes, but that’s not how it works. More likely to be terminated at that point.Should he give money back for not being the lowest paid in the league when he finished last in the league?
He's not going anywhere unless he does something like 10 wins. Who has deep pockets to buy out a contract and pay more than $4m/year that wants a coach who wins 6 games in Year 4? Only either one of the Big Boys or the NFL. You need to do something real to impress them, not go to a 4th tier bowl game. He's well-paid ffs, he's a multi-millionaire and people are really worrying about him getting a raise??My take without reading everything- you Don’t extend a coach with 3-4 years left unless he has leverage.
6 wins this year doesn’t give GS better opportunities- 6 wins this year and 6+ in 24- then you talk.
But if there is extra money this year after a 6 win season- you give it to GS by way of more money for the coaching staff.
He’s not going anywhere even he gets to 10 wins. There are only 2 conferences left. No one in the SEC and no one on the B1G think he is a viable candidate. He's not going anywhere unless he does something like 10 wins. I can't reconcile your two posts above.![]()
I feel like this thread is the perfect example that the bar has been raised. Bowl team is not enough. Especially being in the B1G East.
How much is a win worth? Do you use Day’s salary per win as the guide.?I'd say the same amount he gives back for under six wins.
plenty of schools that can write bigger checks than RU.He’s not going anywhere even he gets to 10 wins. There are only 2 conferences left. No one in the SEC and no one on the B1G think he is a viable candidate.
Let’s all be realistic! And I like Schiano.
He'd have to win 10+ games a few times. He's a known quantity. He’s not going anywhere even he gets to 10 wins. There are only 2 conferences left. No one in the SEC and no one on the B1G think he is a viable candidate.

That has nothing to do with what @kupuna133 said. Nobody wants him. Face it, he's near the end of his coaching career. He's a fine coach and a program builder. He is a great defensive mind and coach. But until proven otherwise, he's not know for being building a quick winner or having teams with an exciting and productive offense.plenty of schools that can write bigger checks than RU.
Doesn't matter, the point still standsplenty of schools that can write bigger checks than RU.
Building a quick winner? Who can do that? Plenty of programs that are looking for a program builder with a track record. You can say he is not the guy that takes a 9 win team to the playoffs. But there are more teams out there that are trying to dig out of the cellar. That has nothing to do with what @kupuna133 said. Nobody wants him. Face it, he's near the end of his coaching career. I’m sure there are but don’t think anyone will want to. There will always be a shinier new toy for the big boys.plenty of schools that can write bigger checks than RU.
And at that point why would he leave a successful Rutgers program. Makes zero sense.Building a quick winner? Who can do that? $$$$$$ it’s college footballAnd at that point why would he leave a successful Rutgers program. Makes zero sense.
Then they can have him. If he wants to be here it should be under Hobbs terms. Hopefully he agrees no extension for at least 2 years or a NYD bowl game in the next 2 years.plenty of schools that can write bigger checks than RU.
Name one team that fits the above described circumstances that would be an option? If he is the option. We will be just fine replacing him.$$$$$$ it’s college football
really? I mean there are 2 spots in the B1G (Indiana and NW). If he wins, he’ll have options. Why do you think we’ll be just fine? Was Flood or Ash fine?Name one team that fits the above described circumstances that would be an option? If he is the option. We will be just fine replacing him.
Same with the players right? They should want to be here and not chase the best deal. It’s a business. Then they can have him. If he wants to be here it should be under Hobbs terms. Hopefully he agrees no extension for at least 2 years or a NYD bowl game in the next 2 years.
So you think Northwestern and Indiana will break open the bank and pay a considerable uptick in salary and buyout for Schiano? I would have more respect if you said Alabama and Clemson.really? I mean there are 2 spots in the B1G (Indiana and NW). If he wins, he’ll have options. Why do you think we’ll be just fine? Was Flood or Ash fine?
Considerable uptick? GS is last in the league in pay. All they have to do is pay the same as the prior coach and it’s a raise for GS. Hobbs has no experience in football. He gave us Ash.So you think Northwestern and Indiana will break open the bank and pay a considerable uptick in salary and buyout for Schiano? We will be fine because we have a competent AD and a full share of B1G resources to pull from.
If you think he gave us Ash you don’t know.Considerable uptick? GS is last in the league in pay. All they have to do is pay the same as the prior coach and it’s a raise for GS. Hobbs has no experience in football. He gave us Ash.
And they demand wins, not excusesplenty of schools that can write bigger checks than RU.
Plus contract buyoutConsiderable uptick? GS is last in the league in pay. All they have to do is pay the same as the prior coach and it’s a raise for GS. Hobbs has no experience in football. He gave us Ash.
He was the AD that hired Ash. I think GS will get much better gigs if he can get us 10 wins this year. I think someone will come for him if he can get to 7 or 8 wins this year.If you think he gave us Ash you don’t know.
So you’re saying Schiano would leave after improving Rutgers to a 10 win program for a rebuild for what Indiana and Northwestern are currently paying? Come on.
Don’t change the topic. This is about extending Schiano now when he’s done nothing. Players can do whatever they feel they need to do for themselves. Same with Schiano. If some other team is dumb enough to want him, have at it.Same with the players right? They should want to be here and not chase the best deal. It’s a business.
Of course. This whole thread is assuming if he wins. No one is asking if he deserves a raise for another losing season. He certainly has won more games than the previous guy. But the bar was set very low.And they demand wins, not excuses
Changing the topic? The thread is about if he wins and gets us to a bowl, do we give him a raise. Stay on topic.Don’t change the topic. This is about extending Schiano now when he’s done nothing. Your posts and responses are all over the place. If Schiano wins 6 B1G/Power 5 games this year, he should have to do it again to get an extension at that time.Changing the topic? The thread is about if he wins and gets us to a bowl, do we give him a raise. Stay on topic.
Ha ha. 7 or 8 wins. Ridiculous. Did I miss Wagner being added to the schedule 2 more times ? The same majority moronic fans who insisted he be hired despite being a pariah think he’s suddenly going to start winning. Hobbs screwed up once. Hopefully he learned his lesson and will hire a winning coach by 2026.He was the AD that hired Ash. I think GS will get much better gigs if he can get us 10 wins this year. I think someone will come for him if he can get to 7 or 8 wins this year.
Lol. You have a better shot than him. No one wants himreally? I mean there are 2 spots in the B1G (Indiana and NW). If he wins, he’ll have options. Why do you think we’ll be just fine? Was Flood or Ash fine?
well of he wins 10 this season, then I'll say start the extension talk beforeNow we’re taking about what happens if HC Schiano wins 10 games this year or the near future? And coaching options available and making a hire if HC Schiano is poached away?
Thank god the season starts tomorrow.
love that moving target. I like the fact GS has raised the bar. 8 wins and it’s a we’ll see approachYour posts and responses are all over the place. If Schiano wins 6 B1G/Power 5 games this year, he should have to do it again to get an extension at that time.
Hobbs takes 2 months to hire a volleyball coach. Do you really think he hired Ash over his first weekend on the job?He was the AD that hired Ash. I think GS will get much better gigs if he can get us 10 wins this year. I think someone will come for him if he can get to 7 or 8 wins this year.
