Former Ball State kicker Jackson Courville committed to Ohio State out of the transfer portal, according to a post on his Twitter/X account. He spent two years at Ball State.

In nine games last season, Courville made 30-of-31 extra points and 11-of13 field goals. He’s 54-of-56 and 26-of-34 overall in two years, respectively.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Courville was not ranked, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played his high school football at Centerville High (Ohio).

Courville was the latest commitment to Ohio State in the transfer portal. While the Buckeyes have taken advantage of their portal opportunities, head coach Ryan Day called for football to have one transfer window.

“I do believe that there should be one Transfer Portal in the spring only,” Day said. “I think for us to try to do a Transfer Portal, like for instance, we had the Transfer Portal open and close before our season was even over. How do you even explain that?”

The winter calendar in college football has been widely discussed as an issue for coaches to manage. With the early signing period, teams are working to sign high school recruits.

At the same time, they’re dealing with what tends to be a very active Transfer Portal period. On top of that, for those in bowl games or the College Football Playoff, there are important games to be prepared for.
