Women's basketball takeaways: 11/22 edition
It was a wild day of women’s hoops. From unexpected overtimes to big resume wins, here are my takeaways.
1. Kentucky starts challenging stretch with a win
Kentucky notched a major resume win at Louisville on Sunday afternoon. They remain undefeated heading into a tough stretch where they’ll face Maryland, Miami and Belmont.
“It gave us a lot of confidence within ourselves that you can’t really get off just practice,” Clara Strack said. “Down the road, knowing we did this and we can do better, too.”
Strack, Teonni Key and Tonie Morgan all had standout performances – but it was the third quarter as a whole that stands out. Kentucky outscored Louisville 20-6 and held star guard Tajianna Roberts to just three points after she put up 19 points in the first half.

2. Princeton scores 100 vs. Penn State
Princeton scored 100 points for the first time in the Carla Berube era and it was en route to a significant win over Penn State.
Despite Gracie Merkle’s 39-point performance, the Tigers always came back with an answer. Whether it was Skye Belker, Madison St. Rose or Fadima Tall, they were able to get buckets – and get the 100-93 win.
