Anybody Else Feel an Overwhelming Sense of Dread?

Folks, this is bad, and I don't think it's the beers I drank last night. My body is revolting against this game. I can feel it hanging over my skin and digging into my gut. I know that I was Mr. Bad Guy who predicted a loss to Santa Clara on Monday. That doesn't mean I want it to happen. Now that it's potentially here, I can't handle it. Am I just a loser or are there others catching this vibe?

Also, the sense of dread got amplified when they asked me to lead off Finebaum this afternoon. There's no place I'd rather be less after UK is eliminated in the NCAA Tournament. PLEASE WIN!

I’ve went back and forth all week. I played a Santa Clara ML for the emotional hedge.

You all are correct. If you can't hang, then get off the pot. TIME TO BUCKLE UP!

Hey, we are either good enough to beat Santa Clara on a neutral floor or we’re not. Time to find out.

I love a good mixed metaphor, but damn that's weird. 😂

Doesn't matter, Pope's two years were better than Chokepari's last four years...or you weren't paying attention, five post-season wins in two years is better than two wins in four years 🙂.

I’m with you. I’m gonna cheer my ass off, but in the back of my head I’m kind of ready for this awful season to be over.

I'm not scared at all. We're a 7 seed that no one should expect anything out of anyway. Should we beat Santa Clara? Yep! Will we? Who in the world knows based on how erratic this team has been all year. Lace em up, toss the ball, and let's play. Let's just be honest here. A loss to Santa Clara would be a fitting end to this season.

I don’t know if it’s good luck or not but I flew 3000 miles to sit next to my mom today and cheer on the cats for what very likely could be her final tournament. She has Alzheimer’s disease and her frontal lobe functioning is certainly less robust than it used to be. She made three things really clear yesterday. 1) this woman DOES NOT like Bruce Pearl, but she can’t remember why. He came on the screen and she said “who’s that on the right?“ I told her his name is Bruce Pearl and her immediate quote was “I don’t like him one bit!” I asked her why she felt that way, and she said she didn’t know, but she was sure about it. 2) I think she wanted Duke to lose even more than I did. She was so excited about the possibility. I tried to console her after by telling her they would play a better team in a couple of days and she said “don’t get an old lady’s hopes up unless you mean it. “ 3) she saw Candace Parker on a commercial and commented on how pretty she was. I told her that she had married a guy who played at Duke and when I showed her a picture of them together, she was completely confused about how a girl so pretty could end up with that guy…

I have had a sense of dread every game we have played this year. So….today is no different. I want to go back to feeling like we can knock anyone off the floor on any given night.
