Anybody notice Dusty pulling an “Izzo” last night?

(I’m sure some will take exception to this, as they should) Dusty got in Mara’s face (on camera) after Mara failed to drain the first half clock before taking his shot. In Dusty’s defense, Izzo does that a dozen times each game. First time I’ve seen May do that.

Completely warranted. Mara is a great player and learns quickly. He won't do that again.

Izzo is the coach that invented getting in players' faces? I didn't know he was that old!

Also, did Dusty have to get up on a chair to do this?

Dusty was clearly pissed and rightfully so. That was a 4-pt swing at the end of the half. Difference is Izzo does something like that every single timeout.

The bigs were clearly lacking focus offensively and it was certainly warranted

Izzo has made an art of timing his player rants with the camera on him.

It’s almost like Izzo, cameraman, and announcers are all in unison or sum hmm 🤔

I wouldn’t call that getting in his face. He clearly was pissed. He definitely chewed him out a bit but it was 3 seconds and done. I didn’t think there was anything about it that was showing Aday up or anything like that.

Even that was out of character for DM. I would have done worse, based on the bigs play in that game, lol. Yeah, very mild compared to Mr March.

That that was a 2.5 (out of 11) on the 'Izzo Scale' in terms of getting in a player's face after a mistake.

Like children, it means more if you pick your moments to yell and scream, if you do it all the time, it loses its meaning

Yes, and it bothered me. I don't mind him being upset but he went a little far and got himself rattled. He and his staff mucked up the last 2 minutes of the first half. They had screwy substitutions, wasted a timeout and didn't design a good play with 6.6 seconds left. The team needed to regain their poise and focus but so did Dusty.

Exactly. When May does it, it means something. When Tom does it , it means the camera is on him.

He’s ok there, the Mara play was the culmination of about 90 seconds of bad play. Most importantly, his reaction is a rarity for him.

I agree. Totally out of character. None of us are perfect, and the coaches and team had a great 2nd half.

So Dusty coaching up a kid is somehow bad?

He was at least two feet away and three feet lower from Mara. Nothing like Izzo. Izz will do that an inch away from the player’s chest. Not comparable.

Some of you obviously didn't play sports in high school. Every coach I had chewed you out if you made a bone headed mistake. My eighth-grade football coach grabbed my jersey and yanked me, so hard I fell in the mud, and my high school football open handed smacked my helmet. Yelling at someone for a couple seconds after a bone headed play isn't a big deal.

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Dusty so animated on the sideline to be fair. That’s the type of mistake that can cost you a game. Also he wasn’t rly too much in his face but he did give it to him a bit. Either way completely warranted, that sequence was bad and I’m willing to bet Dusty coaches these situations the right way.

And Izzo would have brought it up numerous times in his post game press conference. Little narcissistic assault enabling elf .

I mentioned it in the game thread. It was pretty funny. Dusty stormed all the way out to center court to meet Mara as he walked towards the tunnel and gave him the business. He was f@#kin’ pissed! I thought Mara was going to be anchored to the bench, but to Dusty’s credit, he said what needed to be said and delivered his message… and Aday Mara had some good moments in the 2H that helped Michigan strangle the Crimson Tide.

You are a sh*t poster, so I should expect that take from you. Even Mhoops said Dusty lost his poise. It's fine. Dusty isn't perfect, but he's great.

He lost his poise for good reason. That was a ridiculous decision by Mara. It’s called coaching. Why is everyone so soft these days?
