What happens first, technical glitch or an injury? “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should” A lesson that just keep getting failed by the powers of college sports.

Have they said how similar the surface is to hardwood? Does the ball bounce the same? Is the friction the same?

Imagine the things that college students with too much time on their hands will display to the world if they hack into it :-).

This is my lead question that remains unanswered. We will see soon though.

I would not blame any kid that sits this tournament out because of the injury risk. This is a blatant money grab by the Big12 without regard to the impact on the players and the game itself.

Waiting for that first ACL to go... saw a video yesterday talking about how the court seems more "sticky."

These have been used previously. The NBA used one in the 2024 All-Star Game. God knows how many billions in contracts were out there. If they felt it was safe enough, I'm pretty sure it was thoroughly test.

If I was a coach and my team was already in, I wouldn’t play on it. If it is more “sticky” that’s just begging for a sprained ankle, ACL, MCL, etc.

Apparently it’s used over in Europe and players like it more. Easier on their bodies. It also lights up and circles wet spots.

Yes, let me find the video. There was actually some solid journalism done. Apparently there are things under it to give the exact feel of a hardwood floor and takes away some of the shock. I guess it’s used in Europe and players love it. Much easier on their bodies. Also, a cool feature is it can detect wet spots. So it will circle them for someone to come dry them.

Not sure I would count a PR puff piece on KCTV5 as research. Notably they didn’t have any direct quotes from players who have played on it. Rather they interviewed the inventor of the floor who has a massive conflict of interest and who predictably said that players love it.

That's super cool and glass is a more uniform surface than hardwood could ever be.
