Bill Self update

“Kansas men’s basketball coach Bill Self felt under the weather earlier today and, out of an abundance of caution, was taken to LMH Health where he received IV fluids. He is feeling better but did not accompany the team to Boulder.”

If serious, I hope he shuts it down.

Prayers up for Coach Self. Not sure what else to say. Glad he’s feeling better, but damn.

If so, will be interesting to watch (not that it wouldn't be anyway).

If he hadn't had like 5 heart-related hospitalizations in the last 3 years, this could be believable. AD telling a silly story that will only lead to more questions probably not the best route. Just hope the big guy does what's best for his health, not the team.

If he was only given IV fluids and LMH handled the issue = good news. If he was taken to KU Med not good.

I had a heart attack at 38 while coaching my daughter's softball team 12 years ago. The hardest part is the mental part. Every time you feel anything in pain in chest, arm, neck it will mess with your mind and make you think you're having another heart attack. I went to the ER a couple different times thinking I was having another. Both times were nothing, but the mind had convinced me something was happening. I hope that's all it is with Coach

Hiking the lumpy trail in Colorado last year. Going from 8000 ft up felt so hard. Got back and cardiologist found a big blood clot in my left ventricle. Still working on it but I now pay very close attention to little things like cold fingers numbness etc. I’m 75 but in good shape shit hits the fan for all of us

I am 75 also. The watchman blocks off the left ventricle so blood clots are retained there - or something like that.

I'm to the point where I hope HCBS hangs it up because it ain't worth it at some point, and he might be at or beyond that point. Have not clue though, maybe he was dehydrated, overworked and got dizzy or something and that triggered some stuff. Regardless, would rather see him in the stands from time to time than the alternative. But whenever the time comes to hang it up, I'll miss the hell out of him being our coach. (I went to the ER once for chest pains, was a panic attack, but reading the last few posts on this board y'all about to give me another one, lol)

Family history of heart disease. Had a blood clot in middle of chest. Then found out the widow maker was 99% blocked. Blood clot probably saved my life.

Fran had a tweet that he is being told that Self expects to be back coaching for Saturdays game. If Self seriously had another heart scare this would not be the case.

I don't know if it is the case, but despite some of you laughing about it the flu is tough this year. And, it's been going around. I know our local hospital has changed the rules for visitation because of the number of cases.

I also have a watchman i havent noticed a fib in 30 yrs ! But i also had my stomach removed for acid reflux ! So i dont absorb things well , but doesnt matter what your heart issue is if pottassium drops below 3 your probably ending up in the hospital!
